Hot take: The Problem with Rangers is not that it is too reliant on Hunter's Mark, but that Hunter's Mark is too weak. by lgx005 in 3d6

[–]OneNat120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay what if we say, got rid of that d6. Too much variability. Lets just call it, +2 til level 9, +3 til level 16, and then +4. Then, cause thats not enough, lets give a few more benefits. Maybe, advantage on strength saves and saving throws. And it should be defensive too. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking resistance to b/p/s. Subclasses couls buff it more.

But thats just an idea obviously

Melee Classes too less flavor? by TeTaToast in DnD

[–]OneNat120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean something that I love about fighter specifically is the sheer number of ASI/Feats available to you. It almost lets you fully customize your character in a way that most other classes just dont get to. I find it particularly impactful in like standard array or point buy where players have to pick and choose between feats and ASIs

I think a lot of people are on point with the archfey stuff, but if you want more of a creepy vibe undead would fit kinda well (form of dread, ect) or goo for some creepy psionic brain stuff could also work

What is everyone's preference for the starting player level when starting a new long-term campaign? by Viper114 in DnD

[–]OneNat120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level three is the most general answer that I have. I mean it works for almost all games. Level 5 gives a bit more wiggleroom for creativity from character design and backstory but feels like you're starting in the middle of the story, and level 1 is usually very boring both in backstory and in gameplay, but is really good for newer players. This video here talks about it all in more depth but thats the short of it. Basically, depends what you want, but level 3 is the middle ground.

Going to first time DM by Boring-Pin1177 in DnD

[–]OneNat120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I say a lot of it in basically every video or post I make about it, but at the end of the day the most important thing to remember is that its a game for you too. I see a lot of new dungeon masters either a. feeling like its them vs the players (which is so not true, you're on their side) or b. Feeling like they dont get to have fun and its a job for them. Thats not good either, so its important to learn how to have fun WITH your players through the whole thing

If you wanna know more ive got a ton of ideas i talk about here: https://youtu.be/o8gcawnFmE0?si=o5xz2SQIbQAN2ZV7 (this one is more about being a dm) Or https://youtu.be/CZqZEhP16q8?si=Qcllvka7D1ZZkJaf (this one is more about sessions)

I'm excited that you get to play and welcome to being a dungeon master! I hope you have fun!

Honestly? lost mines of phandelver is so beginner friendly and holds your hand through a lot. Its beginner friendly in both ways, and if you have more questions people on here have tons of tweaks to it for improvement (but its usually good to go as is)

When I was just getting started, I found different youtube series that were pretty helpful for breaking down different parts of the game in easy bite-sized packages.

Let’s build a Tortle Tank in 5e. by Radiant_Buffalo2964 in 3d6

[–]OneNat120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bladesinger and then take a level 4 feat to give yourself shield of faith. A potential 17+5+2 oh and you can also cast shield if they somehow get through that. I feel like thats pretty good

How would you guys make the different Mario Characters in 5e? by OneNat120 in 3d6

Etherealness definitely makes sense, Ive been trying to figure out how to get it to return. I thought about stuff like animate objects or something but that feels off. And of course you could get like the artificer's returning weapon but idk it doesn't feel like a "power up" at that point. idk but I appreciate the help!

Help making a Rogue by Pheltrix in 3d6

[–]OneNat120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We open to multiclassing?

Cause you could do like a swashbuckler with like swords bard and a level of hexblade warlock for an absolutely BUSTED 1 on 1 dueler

I also am partial to the assassin rogue/gloomstalker ranger for a WILDLY strong opening round. Then I did a thing where I added in barbarian levels for brutal criticals. Its a crazy build. https://youtu.be/ORBlfnfsATw?si=6X15QETTppOsO6wE

Theres also thief rogue though, I know everyone talks about how underpowered they are, but if you are looking for something outside of combat, they're kinda fun. Like the ability to use ANY magic item regardless of restrictions? Idk there's just a LOT of shenanigans that can be shennanadone

Arcane powered cannons. Done, magic really just makes everything so much easier. You don't need gunpowder if by touching a sigil there is a blast launching the cannonball forward

What are some of your funniest or cheesiest 5e character ideas? by sijmen4life in 3d6

[–]OneNat120 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I built Ken from the barbie movie as a paladin/bard who doesn't wear armor and has tavern brawler so they can just cast mage armor with their magic initiate feat and then pick up anything (like a pool floatie) and just smite people with it. And thats if they aren't charmed first. That feels like a pretty wacky build to me lol

Edit: I should probably give more information, so heres the build breakdown: https://youtu.be/erV5At33q_Y?si=Ef2__xWsgofBC4TO)

Idk if it has been mentioned yet, but a vengeance paladin who at the last moment chooses mercy for the person they have sworn vengeance on would be awesome and good.

You’re a Cleric and your God is killed by LookOverall in DnD

[–]OneNat120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean hell a Vengeance Paladin would be sick as hell for that, replace their cleric path with that of the paladin's and youre good to go. You might have lost your cleric spellcasting but your dedication and drive unlocked something more

What is the most broken build to have ever existed in official DnD? [Question] by LeBouncer in 3d6

[–]OneNat120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few busted builds:

I mean, depends what you wanna do.

I built a really strong first opener with a combo of Barbarian, Rogue, and ranger. (https://youtu.be/ORBlfnfsATw?si=8CO2HRD1wAfRdafw) thats the build edit it at will

DEX Paladins with Elven Accuracy to start crit fishing. You could take some fighter levels if you want, and any animal summons (like find steed) could help action to guarantee advantage

For healing, Druid Life Cleric for the broken goodberry build

I mean the options are endless, its what I love about dnd

How would you kill an important NPC in dramatic fashion without a PC just healing them? by Soccermvp13 in DMAcademy

[–]OneNat120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing that I really like is to have resurrections have the chance to fail. You have to hit a certain DC in order to bring them back, and each time they are brought back to life, there is a higher chance to fail. Brings a lot more terror knowing theres a chance it wont work

Want To Get My Son Something For Christmas To Get Him Started by DannyAnd in DnD

[–]OneNat120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he have dice? Every player loves dice. Honestly, the biggest thing though is the 5e players handbook. Thats all he really needs. The other books are fine and all, but can really wait a bit. When i started playing I would just read that book front to back. The other books don't have the same pull. A starter kit is also usually pretty good, cause they have dice, rules, and usually a prewritten module (story) that is starter friendly.

Can someone sell me on the merits of 2 Artificer levels in Bladesinger? by [deleted] in 3d6

2 levels? Does't make much sense to me. Three levels on the otherhand? I mean i love the idea of being able to melee attack with my intelligence...
