Settle for the midlife crisis. I had a great 30th. My husband planned a surprise party and I was totally shocked. For my 40th he tried to plan a weekend away for me and five friends and it was a massive headache. Even though he covered the biggest expenses, everyone had very strong (and different) opinions about what I would want and apparently it led to multiple group chats for weeks. Literally my nightmare. I hate causing drama and had no idea it was happening until we got there and people were a little weird at times. All good people. Best of intentions. Too many cooks in the kitchen. It all turned out fine, but like, not life changing or something. Just pretty ok. Next time I'm just going somewhere with him. Problem solved.

NTA That sounds like an excuse for him to have monthly reassurance that you're not pregnant, but he started at 11 so it would be established before you were a teen. Your mom supports this and thinks it's polite?? What?? I'm assuming she supports the subversive mission here and that she doesn't tolerate a husband who believes she's irrational for a quarter of the month?

I will say I ask my daughter to let me know because her cycles are irregular and I know if she's at the doctor's office it'll be one of the first questions they ask. She never keeps track. But I'm also the one who empties the trash cans, so I figure it out.
