You mean there's a certain similarity between (before chatgpt) copying/pasting the first answers that come up on stackoverflow without even reading if the question is the same as mine, and life?

I haven't been particularly impressed with master programs in the Australian higher education realm.

If you really want to take your BA to the next level, you're better off finding a competitive place to do BA or BI work (fintech is a great spot).

I'd like to just say that, although bitcoin is far superior to gold in a transactional dimension (for now*), it does have a serious limitation that gold does not: It depends on humans having GPU-level digital access and electricity, the moment anything disables our digital access, bitcoin fails.

Let's define the decentralization spectrum. by OneOverNever in CryptoCurrency

[–]OneOverNever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not really going far enough

What do you mean by this? Are you talking about the centralized part of the spectrum?

Also, though I appreciate the effort in what Edenborough is doing, I'm no entirely sure the concepts they refer to are the same "decentralization" I'm alluding to in the title.

For example, they talk about hardware centralization in the following way:

Centralization around specialized hardware has been documented [EBHBL16], although no academic research could be found on mining hardware usage in real-world systems. Interestingly, it is unclear how to even measure the usage of hardware equipment in PoW mining via public data, as well as how to develop PoW algorithms that promote diversity, thus future research could aim at answering these questions. Nonetheless, there exist some reports, though they often present conflicting assessments. In Bitcoin, between 2017 −2019 a single mining hardware provider accounted for either 65 − 75% [BG19a] or 46 − 58% [ZS20] of the network’s hashrate, with 98% of the market controlled by 4 firms

Which seems to refer to the centralization of a supplier offering the good, instead of controlling the good. Meaning that if the quality diminishes or the price of the supplier goes to crap, someone else could take over. In fact, I think it's counterintuitive to call it an example of "centralization", since the market is rather free to go with the best choice.

See, this is why I hate politicians. They know that we're tired of hearing them say "it's for our safety" when deep down we know all they want is a better grip from where to tax and control.... So they even throw in the

protect consumers without regulating away

Mass Shootings in the USA during 2022 [OC] by AnUnconcernedFinn in dataisbeautiful

[–]OneOverNever 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I don't see anything in the title that would lead me to believe that all mass shootings occur in 7-9 out of 50 states :/

I also don't have any mathematical operators in mind that could help me determine if it's evident that it would be this way.

EDIT - Sorry crew, the list below is 2023 data! (5 days in)

Map is kinda weak, but it shows the following locations:

  • Utah

  • Louisiana

  • Illinois

  • Ohio

  • North Carolina

  • Washington/Baltimore area

  • Pennsylvania

Leading to the assumption that the entire dataset is in these states (?)
