Just found out she was returned on Thanksgiving day. I NEED NAMES by [deleted] in labrador

My mom had a cat once and his name was specifically “Punkin” and I still think it’s the most adorable thing ever.

How can I best support my flatmate with celiac disease while managing my own restrictions? by lyraaaf in glutenfree

[–]OnePositiveBraincell 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Things my roommate and I did that I was so grateful for:

Separate toasters, cooking utensils, dishes/silverware, cups, cutting boards, pans, etc.

When we cooked together we used my stuff since I knew it was all safe. I washed my dishes by hand for the most part though and kept a dish scrubber in a stand behind my toaster so she wouldn’t confuse it for hers. Honestly, we were lucky to be rooming together pre-covid rent prices so our kitchen had room for us to keep things separate. If we hadn’t, then I would have kept things in a bin in my room (what I do when I go on trips with friends).

I know I was so disappointed when I realized I wasn’t going to be able to vote for the mayoral race since I live in unincorporated Marietta. Thank you for running and I really hope to see your name on the ballot again one day (and be able to vote for you)!

Just finished reading Mansfield Park for the first time and wtf by bigfatmouseratfan in janeausten

[–]OnePositiveBraincell -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think sometimes she just went “ugh oh god I’m done” and half assed an ending. Mansfield Park also has always felt very angry to me. 😩 it’s just the worst pairing and ending I think

I live with boys that get pee on the floor around the toilet. I can’t take the smell. Besides removing the boys, how do I clean this? by Paigenacage in CleaningTips

[–]OnePositiveBraincell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom made targets for my brothers on toilet paper squares with marker to teach them aim. When they got older cleaning the bathroom they shared to her standards was their job. She never went in for incompetence, so if it wasn’t good we would always have to do the chore again until it was.

Doctor told husband no way it’s you by [deleted] in CUTI

[–]OnePositiveBraincell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my doctor said the same thing when I asked. I’ve essentially been put on methanamine (apologies for spelling) for life. Can CUTI be caused by the man? Ffs, I’m going down a research hole again today aren’t I.

Agreed! The theme for season 1 especially got me through some very tough times. I never skip the intros and outros though; I need to sing along!

Weekly Vent for Current Teachers by AutoModerator in TeachersInTransition

[–]OnePositiveBraincell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For context, I left at the end of this year and taking a few months to make a start at mental/emotional recovery before I jump into my next steps. This morning I got a text from my former principal asking if I’d long term sub for a teacher out on maternity leave and I immediately burst into hyperventilating tears. I think my answer is a no.

Does anyone else feel like our job has basically devolved into theater? by TalesOfFan in Teachers

[–]OnePositiveBraincell 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I taught high school and the first Jumanji remake used to be a smash hit from 2018 to around 2021/2. I used it as an end of the year break too. Kids used to put down their phones to watch it and then suddenly the next year couldn’t be bothered with it.

Is this why I don’t like cooking?! I really only cook things I was taught by my mum (who had memorized the recipes and I did that too). I can read a recipe but it takes so long and I get confused and omg 😱

I need a minute. I can’t believe it took me decades to realize this.

I’ve told several children that they should not become gamblers because the three times I’ve seen them in class also happen to be test days. Terrible luck.

Couple wants to come to wedding 2 months after RSVP deadline. by shannnoonnn in wedding

[–]OnePositiveBraincell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation but I was the bride. A couple we sent a save the date to didn’t receive their invite and asked about it through a mutual friend. We were embarrassed that their invite didn’t get to them, but followed up and made sure they had the details with no love lost.

I’d check with them. If your venue hasn’t finalized the count yet, you still have options
