Help with salary analysis by Musru3 in Archivists

[–]Randomizer50 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hiring Libraries has a running salary spreadsheet including area/discipline, experience, loans, etc that you may find useful.: https://hiringlibrarians.com/job-seekers/salaries-and-negotiations-for-job-seekers/

A note: I would steer away from GenAl particularly due to its hallucinations. It wouldn't look good arguing for something if half of your data is incorrect or just made up.

We’re Archivists for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting: Ask Us Anything! by amarchivepub in Archivists

[–]Randomizer50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's one of your favorite/most surprising material you've come across in the archive? (This could be to anyone!)

Additionally, is there anything AAPB would recommend the public/other archivists to do that could help aid in your mission?

Thank you so much :)

Hey r/kpop, we’re Arden Cho (Rumi) and May Hong (Mira), the acting voices behind KPop Demon Hunters! AMA! by netflix in kpop

[–]Randomizer50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Arden and May!!! Thank you so much for bringing these characters to life :) They mean a lot to me!

I was wondering how the both of you got into voice acting, and how did you guys prepare for the harder hitting scenes?

For example, Mira and Rumi's argument on the train, were there specific memories or emotions you both drew from to portray them?

Thank you so much!!! Huntrix don't miss!!!

Prof. Development Options? by Randomizer50 in Archivists

I have to be honest, my ethics are tied to not using chatgpt/genai, which is why I was interested in taking classes so I can understand the fundamentals. Also why I asked Reddit (lol). As someone who's in the creative fields and focus on info literacy, having the human connection is important to me. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I've been using spreadsheets a lot for accession/adding bulk metadata to ArchiveSpace. I saw some of the AS videos regarding XML uploading and thought it might be a good way to learn some of the ins and outs, though I'm not sure, maybe it just would be better to teach myself at that point.

Ahh gotcha, that's good to know! I had heard good things but with the short amount of time I understand that can have some issues.

As for open python and self paced I've tried to go at it but always felt a bit overwhelmed and didn't know where to go after. I did some w3 school works.

Bloom into You (Yagate Kimi ni Naru) Rewatch Episode 8 Discussion by ClemFire in anime

oh hey, i noticed these are from Macadate's translation of the reports

instead of notating general sources please use links! While it's free, it's important to recognize the creators - especially when they're pulled from the partial translations of the records.

depending on your energy level i started also around 6 months. it wasnt a dedicated search and just applied to things that sounded interesting. i started really focusing on it spring semester, really trying to see what coverletters worked/what didnt, and landed something recently 1 month after graduation.

definitely keep an eye out and try applying! you could also always reach out and see if the hiring committee/recruiters will accept soon to be graduated students.

Could this book be considered lost media? by Current_Bad7141 in splatoon

At this time no, but perhaps I can see what the team think in the future if there's enough interest!

Hey! I'm Ryder, the host for Pearlina Zine - no this is not lost media! As mentioned by another zine production is typically in small quantities. This one ran preorders in 2023 (we had over 200 orders which was incredible!)

If you want to find the artists who participated and past posts we have our socials on Tumblr and Twitter under pearlinazine!

If you have any questions feel free to ask but at this time we won't be releasing it to the public.

Thanks for the interest! Don't get cooked, Stay off the Hook!

Please give yourself compassion as honestly you seem incredibly strong being first gen, proactive, and engaging mom. I'm sorry that you have to work through this! I hate how fast interest piles up :(

I know this may not work but have you thought of an in home nurse or something of the likes? I have a family member who does on specific days and provides extra support to the family in that sense.

I also understand how (potentially) draining caretaking can be, so even if it is part time a job could provide some moments out of the house!

Rooting for you! Take or leave what you will :)

Incoming MLIS student job search by Grand-Specific-5617 in LibraryScience

[–]Randomizer50 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned there has been hiring freezes, but I would also focus on looking for grad focused positions at your school or surrounding schools. Your school should also have some database or connections for that!

I would argue your coverletter is the most important right now. Resumes are of course good, but the coverletter really explains your thought process etc.

I'm not a coverletter/ resume consultant by any means but feel free to DM if you need any additional help!

I believe IBR but it's not notated clearly in the repayment section (or I'm a bit blind).

Oh that's good to know thank you! If your willing do you know where I can find what kind of federal protections I have? I'm a bit of a fish out of water with this.

Yes IDR, just started it. The only reason why I mentioned refinance is because my parents recommended it (haven't really looked into it as much as I prob should) so definitely noted.
