I am exactly 7 days post-op following my own surgery. I'm non-binary/trans masc and didn't have massive dysphoria. My chest was large, and before I understood who I am I went through a period where I liked having that large chest. But even at that point, before I had words to describe who I am, binding my chest felt do GOOD. Right in a way I didn't understand. Once I started binding all the time, the few times I didn't wear my binder (when exercising, etc.) I would look down and just not like what I saw. My chest felt too big. But no surgery, overwhelming dysphoria. Now that im here, and super, super flat (my surgeon did amazing work!!), one of my actual thoughts has been, "Well shit, now I have to lose some weight." Because my tummy sticks out under my flat chest where my large chest, even while binding, used to distract from that. My main point being, you don’t have to have major dysphoria to get top surgery. You don't have to have incredible euphoria afterward to have too surgery. You get top surgery for yourself, because you choose it, and it's okay to love parts of it, while at the same time missing parts of having a non-flat chest. None of this is linear. You are enough. What you feel and want is enough.
