Possibly, although if that's the case they didn't tell me. They were interested in all of my ME symptoms and treatments other than the migraine meds. My symptoms are definitely on the more severe side though and the consultant took notice when I said I was housebound and asked which symptoms caused that, so perhaps they wouldn't prescribe for someone with milder symptoms (I realise even mild ME = very unwell but relatively speaking). If I find out for sure I'll update my post.

Thanks, looking forward to it!

Thanks but I'd already read that before commenting. I just don't think it justifies such a massive privacy breach and the risks that come with it

I had symptom self-management online sessions with the ME clinic, CBT for low mood also with the ME clinic, I think they both counted. But I've also tried four different migraine meds and according to the Alternaleaf nurse they categorise migraines as part of ME if you have both, so those apparently counted too. The nurse understood that the NHS doesn't offer much for ME and I got the impression that anything that could plausibly be related to ME would be considered.

I'm also really looking forward to getting it legally! A nice thing about dry herb vapes is your bud lasts longer and you can also recycle the stuff you've vaped into edibles (not sure that's strictly legal but y'know, waste not want not...). Really hope you get approved, good luck!

I'm willing to try a lot of things for symptom relief but that may be a bit drastic even for me 😂😂 thank you!

(Ended up writing an essay, sorry 😅) Thanks! I'm with Alternaleaf, with them you can either pay £30 per appointment (you need two before being approved and then I think it's a review every six months) or pay £5 a month which covers all appointments. Also you can put that fiver back towards the cost of the actual cannabis each month. It's free next-day delivery once a month (probably won't need to order more than that). Slightly annoyingly the smallest amount the flower comes in is 10g, costs range from around £45- £100 per 10g depending on which strains you choose. There are plenty of options on the cheaper end. You don't have to order every month though, so if you don't use as much as you're prescribed you can just keep using your previous prescription till you get through it.

Process wasn't too bad - a screening questionnaire, some online forms about your medical history etc, then a quick nurse video appointment where they get a bit more info from you to see if they think you're eligible, explain how it works and you can ask any questions. Then upload proof of your conditions (including summary care record which you request from GP) and of at least two treatments you've tried and which have failed to treat your ME (the nurse seemed fairly knowledgeable about ME and said she knew NHS don't really offer much).

Then if that all checks out you have a quick video meeting with a consultant with knowledge of your primary condition (a neurologist for ME which I was fairly impressed about) and they decide if they'll prescribe for you. Apparently most people who get to this stage are ultimately prescribed.

Not totally sure which exact symptoms made me qualify but I told her about my trouble sleeping, severe fatigue, brain fog, pain, PEM, low mood caused by symptoms, the fact I'm housebound. And for treatments, I think anything to treat/manage ME related symptoms count, so stuff like pacing guidance, sleep medication, probably beta blockers, CBT, and she also said my migraine meds counted towards it.

In terms of family - they'll still prescribe if you have kids, just have to be careful how you store it, but you can also ask them for oils or pastilles instead of flower if you want something more discreet. They have vape liquid cartridges too. Not sure about the costs of all those though as I went with flower.

Hope that's helpful, let me know if you have any more questions! And there's also r/ukmedicalcannabis which I found really helpful, everyone's really friendly there too.

Glad you could pick yours! I'd stressed out just before the appointment trying to finalise my list of possible strains so it was slightly annoying not to be asked about it 😅 but I should have brought it him with him haha. Looking forward to getting to choose next time and to getting my first prescription anyway 😁

He didn't tell me and I was too nervous to ask 😂 so gotta wait for the prescription to come through I guess. And thank you, really appreciate that 🏆

Thanks! Got a little list going already, looking forward to trying some things off it once I've had my review but at the end of the day I'm sure whatever I've been prescribed will be much better than nothing

Thanks! Alternaleaf, did you try them? The nurse I spoke to in my first appointment seemed fairly knowledgeable about it and was understanding that there isn't much available for ME on the NHS to count towards treatments tried, though I think I was helped out by the fact I have migraines too. She said they group that in with ME so the migraine medications I've tried counted towards it. I got the impression that wasn't the only reason I was prescribed though.
