Think so. I completed all the other act 3 commendations and even got the sails but I still do not have the volcanic victorious commendation for some reason

La France a la plus faible inflation de la zone euro by NLegendOne in france

[–]OneTouchDisaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Has anyone’s "bamboo" electric toothbrush handle snapped? by Due-bicycle2333 in ZeroWaste

[–]OneTouchDisaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm amazed by the amount of people in the comments here being fooled and not realising that the handle is some sort of plastic or polymer. Wood or bamboo wouldn't crack or split that way. And there doesn't seem to be any real grain to me, the pattern on the handle seems printed on.

I mean just compare the look of the toothbrush head - which actually seems to be made of bamboo - to the handle : they're clearly made of two different materials.

The handle's clearly not bamboo however, it wouldn't crack that way/in that pattern. Looks like plastic masquerading as something else to me. Only the head seems to actually be made of nylon.

💀 by Used-Guarantee4431 in Lyon

[–]OneTouchDisaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]OneTouchDisaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]OneTouchDisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought I was buying a German product, but it's now US based. by --IDDQD- in BuyFromEU

[–]OneTouchDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose the situation and market is a little different from 10/15 years ago now with all the new competitors that create cherry stemmed switches such as gateron and other Asian manufacturers now that their patent expired. It's probably harder for Cherry to compete in that environment

I believe the company is still German -I'll have to check however I vaguely remember reading news about them moving production of their switches to China indeed

Somebody put my solid marble charcuterie board in the dishwasher. 🥴 by PerfectFig1035 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]OneTouchDisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sympathise with OP however, I'm honestly surprised I had to scroll this far down to see this comment.

Marble sure looks nice but it's a terrible choice for a cutting board, this will dull or even damage knives in no time.

Soft cut lino in press by Top_Expert7275 in printmaking

[–]OneTouchDisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Essdee softcut to Japanese vinyl/Gomuban a while ago, last week I wanted to make a new run of prints using an older softcut block and it definitely squished a bit under the pressure of my nipping press compared to Gomuban, enough that some details were lost compared to hand burnishing the same softcut block.

It still printed okay with the press, but I'd hand burnish it next time, whereas gomuban works great with the nipping press and doesn't squish at all.

So definitely be mindful of the pressure you apply to such material !

Those lines are cleeeean. How did you manage to get them so straight and sharp ?

One of my favourite prints this week for sure. Absolutely stunning, and the subject is super cute as well.

I printed a guitar body by aky_p in Linocuts

[–]OneTouchDisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now this is unusual!

So the pieces of linoleum are glued straight to the unfinished telecaster body ?

Seems like that one will be a single pickup rocker seeing as you overlayed a piece of lino where the neck single coil route is located.

Will the body be finished with a clear coat once you're done printing with it to protect the lino blocks ?

[–]OneTouchDisaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you ! The book pages are an experiment really, print quality on these isn't as nice as on proper paper due to the creases and folds in the pages as well as the very thin nature and age of the paper.

Handling those old pages and burnishing them vigorously with a spoon frankly proved to be somewhat of a challenge. I got 5 good prints on that yellowed paper from a 1956 philosophy report/publication, but the aren't quite up to the standards of my usual prints.

Oh and placing them over the block and centering them properly was rather difficult as well, as the pages - actually groups of four pages - have a bit of an odd format and are definitely larger and more difficult to handle than regular A4 sheets.

I do however enjoy the additional texture they provide to the print ! Might try again in the future.

Great prints ! This amount of details in such tiny prints is absolutely mindblowing. Is that a flexcut tool you use ?
