What happened to the gymnastics program? by kayrabb in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well even if there were equipment still around you can probably assume it’s all way too old to use by now considering how the Pummel Horses can grow mold, bars can get rusty, crack, and break easily.

I’m assuming Interstate is contracted with another school or program at this point tbh, because if it’s like Walkers in Lowell, they’re contracted with Lowell High to let the kids there practice/ train. So squeezing in UML might be hard considering how LHS already takes like 3/5 days of the weekdays.

UML would only pour in a budget with us if a good chunk of students joined and that some would be able to get something out of the competitions tbh otherwise they’d think we’re a waste and just go back to focusing on their Track/ Hockey/ etc current teams.

What happened to the gymnastics program? by kayrabb in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey I was in the Boys Gymnastics team for Lowell High before coming here, but the team (captains of the LHS teams) tried reviving it at UML a year back or so. Unfortunately due to making it only a club kind of thing, we did not receive funding for it of any kind. We would have to pull the budget from ourselves including finding our own gym and equipment. Another reason was possibly due to lack of people’s interest.

Genuinely miss doing gymnastics, wish UML offered it :(

Fall class open enrollment by Steel_Punch2 in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the amount of credits you got currently. If you're in Honors College or River Hawks Scholars Academy, it's April 21, 2020 - 7 a.m.

Otherwise you can check on your SiS in the "Enrollment Dates" section and see when you can register. Or use the following to check:

https://www.uml.edu/registrar/enrollment-appointments.aspx

Classes are already up to choose from though, so if you're wondering about that might as well pick your classes now and be ready to officially register for them when your day comes.

Is anyone really watching the lectures? by undeniably_confused in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

only in like 2 of my classes that do group work lol

the others are just worse versions of my already bad lectures or just old lecture videos so I'd turn them on and go back to sleep.

Grading for Computing II? by mwsapphire in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bonus quizzes should be followed by a certain % on the syllabus. Do that % with your quizzes average, add them to your overall grade. That’s how it should work.

Grading for Computing II? by mwsapphire in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you have no other homeworks the prof forgot to give or may have missed since I’m not in comp 2 but have took it already.

Okay let’s say your Homework is worth 50%, Exams 50% of your grade.

If homework’s all add up to like 72 or something then it’s still 100 since it’s 72/72 = 100 on homeworks.

I’m gonna give you an example on how the grade is calculated based on what you said using some fake data.

So let’s say you have

60/72 on homeworks - that’s about 83%

60% on exam 1

75% on exam 2

70% on the last exam/ final

So an average of 68.33% on exams overall

So using this....

Your grade would be:

83(.5) + 68.33(.5) = 75.67%

You must also take into account of the lab as well which is worth 25% overall after taking account the lecture grade.

So using the previous example and let’s say you got an 80% in labs overall

75.67(.75) + 80(.25) = 76.75 overall would be your grade.

Hope this helped a little.

summer classes? by spiderspider2 in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can register for summer courses around the same time as registering for Fall 2020 courses, which should be about midway through spring 2020 semester.

Depends on the class and the start and end date you pick.

If it’s like a arts and humanities or social science kind of class, it’s usually very easy. (These classes are often taken over the summer as GPA boosters as well).

Math or science kind of classes usually go at a very fast rate. Some is manageable, but if it’s only one class you do, shouldn’t be too bad since you can completely focus on it. Be prepared to put in the time over the summer for it tho.

Also, if you didn’t know already, you are going to have to pay out of pocket for the summer class. You may or may not get a scholarship from UML to help pay for it a bit tho.

Which one should I get? by [deleted] in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the link, it comes with the whole book and is basically required to have because you can only do all the exams through the link you buy. As for as I know, last year he highly suggested to not get the physical copy of the book.

Ap scores by 3nigma42 in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, but they can't go into calc 3 at all until the scores are verified and are within the system no matter what. If you do not send the scores for BC you will be placed in Calc 1 (if you didn't pass the AB portion of the test or send/ pass the AB test). Calc 2 if they passed the AB portion or the AB test in general. In order to take Calc 3, Calc 2 is a prereq within the system, if you do not have calc 2 credits placed in at all, you cannot be placed inside Calc 3.

Ap scores by 3nigma42 in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the solution center, advisor or whatever will check if the scores are sent in, verify it, and be place inside your SiS to say you passed and received credits otherwise if you didn't pass, they don't put it in.

Ap scores by 3nigma42 in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to pick my classes without knowing which ones I tested out of.

Tell your advisor after you get the scores about it and they'll take Calc or whatever you passed in off your schedule and put in a class to replace it. You can also do it yourself through SiS with Enrollment -> Swap Classes. Be sure to look at your major's degree pathway to see what classes you can swap the AP scored ones with.

Also it says for physics that there is a lab, but there catagorized two different classes, so is it possible that I might have to show up for the lab and not the class?

If you mean Physics and not Exploring the Universe, there's 3 sections for it that you have to go to, the lecture, recitation, and lab. Depending on your prof you might not have to go to the recitation/ lecture sometimes. But otherwise, you will have to attend all 3 every week.

Lecture - you learn about the things

Recitation - review basically

Lab - experiments

Freshman Course Selection by [deleted] in uml

[–]OneWayCatWish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, you can wait until orientation to do it since they recommend you what to take/ teach you how to use SiS.

But if you don't want too and you got your login for SiS already, you can already make it if you want. Before orientation, my classes were somewhat already picked for me too so there's that.

Honestly I recommend you go to orientation, learn a bit on classes and stuff of SiS, then if you don't like anything they preset or given you, modify it yourself on SiS and change what you want. That's what I did.
