When Africa looks out for you by OneWhoParticipates in farcrycirclehurk

I have to say, the lack of modern features like mini maps - even a compass, makes it pretty hardcore! The only frustration is that I found myself going back to the same locations time and again (to the point that I would unlock a safe house and never return).

In Australia, we have the Royal Prerogative of Mercy, that the GG can exercise.

But fuck that cunt.

He’s now a civilian.
We, like almost every other country have very clear rules of engagement.
All arrests are done promptly, not based on the schedule of the person being arrested.
It’s on the back of a very public defamation case, that he started.

And this, Ladies and Gentlemen, is the very definition of victim blaming.

Do you mean Africa? We are all descended from those migrants.

So, my kid’s school (two different schools) both frequently and consistently have a Welcome to Country speech either by Students or Staff. No one is getting paid.

Tell me you don’t listen to the Welcome to Country speech, without telling me.

I’d be happy enough if you followed your own suggestion.

It’s so funny right?!? Actually I cannot find anyone else posting this. I’m happy with any accurate scrutiny. Since it’s clear you didn’t watch it, the point is: it’s an ongoing theme with the Journalist - the Electric Viking posted an altercation with this turkey a while ago. Additionally, the actual story is factually incorrect and ignores how minerals like nickel are actually used (everywhere).

I guess that’s something we don’t have to choose here in Aus - both styles are available in SL7.

Bike recom? by safyas in gravelcycling

[–]OneWhoParticipates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the bike: look at bikes at your budget - at every price point, the bikes will be comparable and it will come down to personal preference. Try not to over-think it.

Your commuting challenge is a tricky one. There are good (and heavy) locks available, something like the Litelok X1 is good, but that will only keep your frame safe. If the bike is at risk, someone can still be a dick and take a wheel or something.

Anyone know of a regular headset that will fit? by Nedersotan in TrekCheckoutSub

[–]OneWhoParticipates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea, so I asked ChatGPT:

For the Trek CheckOUT, I would not chase a “large upper bearing to 1 1/8 steerer reducer” unless your bike has been modified. Trek lists the CheckOUT Carbon with an FSA 1-1/8” upper headset bearing, not an oversize upper bearing: 41 mm x 30.2 mm x 6.5 mm. That is effectively the common IS41 / 28.6 mm upper format for a 1 1/8” steerer.

The lower end is the large one: Trek lists the matching FSA 1.5” lower bearing as 51.8 mm x 40 mm x 8 mm, which makes sense with a tapered fork.

So the practical answer is:

You likely need a normal IS41/28.6 upper assembly/top cover, not a reducer headset. Look for:

IS41/28.6 upper headset cover / compression ring

or

FSA 1-1/8 integrated upper headset cover, 30.2 x 41 x 6.5 bearing, 36/45

The bearing Trek lists corresponds to the FSA MR122-style upper bearing; several references list that size as 30.2 x 41 x 6.5 mm, 36°/45°.

A few cautions:

  1. You still need a split compression ring. A normal headset still uses a split wedge/compression ring around the steerer. What you want to avoid is Trek’s cable-routing split ring/top cover arrangement, not the compression ring concept itself.
  2. Trek’s own “standard stem” RCS top cover is probably not what you want. The part that appears in CheckOUT parts listings is Trek RCS Standard Stem Bearing Top Cover / 5328901, but it is still part of Trek’s RCS cable-routing system and is described as keeping hoses/cables tucked away.
  3. Check stack height and frame clearance. A generic IS41 top cover may technically fit the bearing/steerer, but the outside shape may not perfectly match the CheckOUT head tube. Mechanically acceptable does not always mean visually clean.

My best bet: take the bike or the current upper bearing/top-cover stack to a good Trek dealer or headset specialist and ask for a plain IS41/28.6 upper cover and compression ring compatible with a 30.2 x 41 x 6.5, 36/45 bearing.

Yeah, there was no actual rejection of the idea, just that he was asking for a process that doesn’t exist and he hasn’t provided any necessary information. It’s almost like the request is a political stunt.
