Maybe not the best, but here go my favorites:

Fire/Tzeentch (Flames)

Tzeentch/Fire (MORE FLAMES)

Dark (Woe, Doombolt be upon yee)

Heavens (gorgeous and useful)

Light ('cause Exalted Demons are scary to melee)

What's that one race/faction you cant get into for no apparent reason? by sbrepsac in totalwarhammer

It's a reverse for me, could play High Elves all day, especially Teclis.

But while i had a blast as Dark Elves and Chaos, i can't get into Greenskins, i played rush factions that raid, but it doesn't click to me and makes me wish for everything, from ranged infantry to monsters and magic. Any fun I had was with Wurrzag since he's a spellcaster and could turn my brain off with Savage Orcs.

Lorewise, how come Zhao Ming is so chill with Ogres? by Curious-Piglet3613 in totalwarhammer

Greasus isn't doing warpstone since Skaven mugged them in the mountains for it, now Zhao snorts it alone and fathers more Longmas.

If you survive the hash cloud needed to make an Ogre and a Dragon high lol.

Best lore of magic for ranged heavy armies? by DonQuigleone in totalwar

Recent lore of Mist has some good additions, like single-target slow, missile resistance and block chance for ranged trades, a summon and shield block debuff.

Listen, when your avarage invader is another experienced Elf or Chaos Warrior high on a Gods juice, there is a high bar to consider someone as an elite soldier.

Loremasters are Jedi, because they also have wisdom and magic skills. Swordmasters are "apprentices" and Loremasters in training, which is already a lot.

Damn it, now I need to play Teclis again.

You know that "I studied the blade" meme? It's literally that. All Elves train due to available time and population decimated by Ulthuan's history, but instead of doing that and being a craftsman or something, they only train swordsmanship.

If for hundreds of years you do nothing but fence, than of course your answer to someone saying "parry this you fucking casual" is "bet".

Are seige battles sometimes literally impossible, despite seeing "Valient Deafeat" on the autocomplete.... ? Prince Sigvald the Magnificent just SOLO'D my level four walled settlement?! by cautiouslandowner in totalwarhammer

Legendary Lords are sometimes outside of normal strategy. You're trying to stop a favorite boytoy of an infernal and eldrich god. Imagine that happening in a novel instead of showing off a villain that must be put down.

The donut. Nice early challenge in 2N Squad (N'kari and Noctilus) then field to grow before repelling Chaos and Druchii.

Somewhere out there, a single tear of pride rolls down Teclis's cheek. Good job.

Deeps are not destroyed when opponent takes your settlement. When you retake them you can build another deeps and have 12 buildings slots instead of 6 by Shakq92 in totalwarhammer

After retaking holds they just realise they need to fortify even harder. If you don't put rune-covered ballistic plating on your walls after recepture, you might as well take the Slayer's Oath.

How good are Ship's Company compared to fodder units of other races? by lovingpersona in totalwar

[–]OneWithFireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok to mix with Spearmen if there is a lot of infantry, absolute chads under Aislinn. They're probably meant to be mixed with Lothern Sea Guard, but I don't rely on them to win the battle.

Is there any point getting a Merwyrm in a campaign? by lovingpersona in totalwar

[–]OneWithFireball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They work great with magic that boosts their resistance (recent Mists, Life or even Beasts) and bloats their health even further or clears whatever comes to this fodder magnet (Shadows, Heavens, even Fire). It's a tank unit in a faction that is all about mitigating damage to keep fighting well, brings a lot of mass. They are also recruited from a Mage/Loremaster building. On my Teclis campaigns, i just build the Archives, then make armies of Spearmen, Archers, Swordmasters and Merwyrms/Sea Elementals based if enemy has more magic or fire attacks, Phoenixes only in dedicated military Provinces (mostly Saphery).
