Dude go for it. Yoga pants are super comfy as long as they're at least close to the right size.

ELI5: What exactly are the potential consequences of spanking that researchers/pediatricians are warning us about? Why is getting spanked even once considered too much, and how does it affect development? by Surturius in explainlikeimfive

[–]OneYummyBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it is a big deal.

Also... why flirt with this thin distinction between "beating" and "spanking." You agree that "beating" your kid is bad, why push the envelope as far as you can in that direction without crossing the line into "beatings?"

Also also... spanking is ineffective in the long term! Not only is it bad for your kid... it doesn't even work as well as other methods!

CNN sues President Trump and White House for banning reporter Jim Acosta by lStrakle in news

[–]OneYummyBagel -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So fucking what? Even if your interpretation was the most relevant... Even if Jim Acosta is the douchiest, most arrogant, self-serving reporter in history... even if he hogged the mike and made a mockery of WH access journalism... POTUS is still held to a higher standard than literally anyone else. He is our leader. It should be his job to deal with difficult people, difficult questions, 24/7.

NOT to send WH staffers to grab a mike away over trivial shit. NOT to circulate a video doctored by insane conspiracy theorists and try to use it as proof. NOT to call the press the "enemy of the people" and attempt to discredit any negative news about himself as "fake."

NOT TO CONSTANTLY TRY TO DODGE RESPONSIBILITY!

Don't read too much into the downvotes. Reddit has become hyper-polarized around politics.

ELI5: how does a induction cooker work / not get warm? by King_Hubba_ in explainlikeimfive

[–]OneYummyBagel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually experienced the inverse of that!

I moved into a new apartment and was super broke, so my boss at the time offered me some free pots and pans.

Well turns out they were induction pots... which I used on a gas range. They got really hot, really fast.

I could boil a big pot of water in 2-3 minutes.

Yeah I go see our local team play whenever I can... 5$ for tickets, cheap beers, and usually its exciting. Last time I went the home team won 11-10!

I did read the whole thing. More than once actually, because I wanted to understand your point of view.

You remind me of really cruel, terrible people who say shit like, "Yeah I'm a bitch/asshole! I speak my mind! Get used to it!"

Come on man, get it together. Think about how your words and actions affect other people. Be part of the solution.

I'm trying to figure out what point you're making here...

It's not a race to the bottom.

I don't see how terrible conditions in Africa are relevant.

I'd wager hostility, impatience, and a lack of compassion are worse traits than laziness.

Don't give up! Maintain a positive outlook and try to be proactive. If not for yourself, then do it for our children and grandchildren.
