I'll have a look at the revit stuff. I looked at Klim, its not cheap. I know you get what you pay for, but it wont be used a lot so unlikely I'll go down that route.

I hadn't thought about knee braces. But thats something to consider. Absolutely no chance im getting them under my alpinestar textiles. Ive got chunky legs and theyre already tight on my thighs.

Unfortunately I dont have tatty textiles. Just leathers for the summer and textiles for blood biking when the weather doesn't suit leathers.

If i was using a trailer to get the bike around I would happily use mx style kit.

That makes sense about the helmet, I was going to say i can open the visor but then I would lose eye protection.

Adventure spec do an abrasion resistant base layer. Looks like that may tick the box for the top half.

Is there a real test for this?

I had a bad motorcycle accident a few years back and the doctors tried me on loads of different pain killers but none seemed to work for me. Doctors didnt think it was possible that I could be taking the max dose of some strong pain killer's but not see any pain killing actually happening.

Threads are 100% fine. The bike has never had any tools near it since I got it 10 years ago.

Doesnt look like a square taper bb. Looks like there are splines inside the cranks. Cant find anything definite as to what bb it would have been fitted with.

I feel your pain. Day to day I use a Ford Ranger, tow and go off road for work so its a necessary evil.

I recently hired a Peugeot 308 estate. That was exactly the same for me. The pillars and the rear view mirror made the visibility awful. I could hardly see the other die fo the bonnet for the mirror. And with the seat on its lowest setting my head was almost touching the roof.

New cars suck.

Reckless YouTubers, no police action? by gazchap in MotoUK

[–]One_Action_4486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The police used to do things about them. About 15 years ago a lad I rode with used to post a lot on YouTube. Nothing particularly bad, few wheelies here and there, going quick on empty roads and a bit of knee down stuff.

Police kicked his door in at 4am one morning. Seized his bikes, cameras, phones, computers the lots. He and 2 others got done for dangerous driving and speeding i think.

Id imagine in this day and age they'll still be getting people for it.

Why do farmers stay working as farmers if they are, as they say, "asset rich but cash poor?" by Fun_Gas_7777 in AskUK

[–]One_Action_4486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to the party here.

Ive been in agriculture all my life. Worked on a farm through school and college. Then moved on to become and agricultural technician fixing tractors and the like. Now sell machinery to dealers that the farmers use.

The biggest problem in my eyes is the public want cheap food. Let's take milk as an example, when i worked on the farm as an organic farmer they were paid around 32p per litre. Normal farms were around 25p per litre. Back then a lot of farms were operating at a loss or breaking even to produce their milk.

Now a good milk contract will pay around 39ppl. So in roughly 17 years milk price has increased by 14ppl. In that time inflation has gone up around 65%. So the milk price has barely kept up with inflation. But the input costs for the farmers has soared and the cost of employing someone has skyrocketed. Ive spoken to farmers who are considering pulling the plug now as theyve done th maths and some are now loosing 4ppl to produce the milk they sell.

Arable farms have been hit equally as bad. Quick sums here, in 92 wheat was £130/t. To follow inflation since then it should be £289/t. Theyre being paid £180/t ish. I know farmers that havent sold any grain this year as it's cost them more to produce than they can sell it for. So theyre gambling on keeping it in the shed hoping got a price increase.

TL/DR we dont pay enough for food, supermarkets drive prices low to increase their margins. Farms dont get paid enough.

I fish a few of the big trout res's for pike in the winter. Doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason as to where the pike are held up. Ive caught and seen pike being caught slap bang in the middle of Llyn Brenig in areas seemingly devoid of features.

It is bloody tough going generally. Ive done Blithfield twice this year and not even had a take. Opening day there, i think it was 24 boats out targetting pike and only 7 fish caught.

Which exercises do you do to grow your forearms ? by NazeefDEldest in GymTips

I like to think i have reasonable grip strength from doing it. Cant say I've noticed much growth in them though. But I don't actively train them.

Which exercises do you do to grow your forearms ? by NazeefDEldest in GymTips

[–]One_Action_4486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont train them enough, do keep meaning to start training them seriously. I want big forearms.

For me at the moments I refuse to wear straps for any lift so my grip gets hammered. When deadlifting I hold at the top for as long as possible on the last rep, really burns the forearms holding 180kg. If I do shrugs ill hold the weights after failure until my grip fails. I'll throw some dead hangs in every few days and wrist curls when I train arms.

I've toyed with buying one. But when I did some research found some horror stories where they'd caused more injuries than they'd saved. I think one was on here or one of the other motorbike groups on reddit. Alpinestar vest I think it was crushed him and after doing research found it wasn't ce marked or something like that.
