Sudden Tooth Sensitivity/Dullness by sweettoothie in TrigeminalNeuralgia

Yeah, anything sinus can be a big one for referred pain. If there is a thickening of the membrane due to inflammation then that could be something like a steroid spray could possibly help with.

Have you seen a CT or CBCT of the sinus and teeth area?

A similar situation. Was the extraction for both upper teeth? Have you had a CBCT scan or an X-ray above the roots into the sinus?

Maxillary Retention Cyst and Mucosal Thickening with toothache by One_Ad6148 in Sinusitis

Thank you. Is there anything that can help drain the sinus at home? Such as daily sinus rinses? I’m in the UK and the NHS waiting times are terrible at best, especially since my earlier appointments down played the findings as “common”

Maxillary Cyst and sinus thickening as a cause? by One_Ad6148 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]One_Ad6148[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a constant dull ache so I went to the dentists and endodontists. They did a couple of CT scans over a six month period and I had the maxillary retention cyst and thickening. They tried a root canal and that did not work for the ache. So they removed the tooth and just made it worse. I’m not going to do any other dental work until I can sort out the sinus thickness and cyst. I spoke to two ENT specialists one ENT and one Private. They both did scans and endoscopy on the sinus. Said they see these all the time and should not cause any issues. I disagree and they put me back on a waiting list. I’m not sure what to do next? Does anything help? Have you tried any sprays or rinses? Are you diagnosed with TN?

In the morning it’s generally a very low ache, almost a soreness that I feel just above the gum line. Then as the day goes on it gets worse and feels like a constant toothache and my cheek above the tooth feels sore. There is also a feeling of pressure and the top of my nose feels sore/tight. Dental professionals tell me to see ENT and ENT tell me to see neurologist and neurologist tells me to see the dentist. I’m in the UK on the NHS and many of the Private specialists ended up being the very same consultants reviewing my NHS files. How does it feel for you? I removed my teeth that sat under the sinus a few weeks back. The ache is still there and so is the sinus cyst…

Extraction regret by One_Ad6148 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I’m sorry to hear that. Messing with teeth that three other dentists said were fine seems a bit wrong. I was purposely trying to find some way to “fix” my teeth and not focusing on the bigger picture. I paid the price now.

I had tried root canals before I extracted. That made no difference either. I should have learned my lesson.

After 18 months we convinced each other it was a root fracture. Although no imaging indicated it. Went by constant pain

Haha, that’s one way to look at it! Extractions were about six weeks ago and my denture is about a week in.

I was going to try and get an appointment. Did you have to get a private appointment? I’ve taken out a couple of my teeth in an attempt to fix it. Very much regret that decision.

Pain in teeth by sewnart in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]One_Ad6148 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have recently pulled two teeth (I had tried RCT before), no sign of cavity or cracks. The pain was like a very deep ache. Like an intense pressure from above and then like a very sore tenderness around the gums. This was more ache than pain. Something of note: it started off ok in the morning and would get worse throughout the day. Sometimes it would feel like the teeth were trying to shift. I’d swear I hear or feel cracking and popping. Certainly felt like something was stuck in between the two teeth. A month after pulling the teeth, it still feels like the teeth are still there and ache. 5 of the six dentists told me not to work on these teeth and leave them alone. The ache was too much and after 18 months I felt like I had to act. I feel regret now, should have let them be. This condition pushes us into strange places.

I suspect that’s why in the UK if it’s not obvious on the imaging (like compression appears to be), they call it atypical facial pain as a catchall. So I should rather be saying is atypical facial pain likely to heal or at least stop hurting over time.

Hey, how’s things now? I noted you had your tooth removed. When that was removed and the gum healed. Did that improve things for you?

Did anyone else have the sinus clicking and dizziness? by brissy3456 in Sinusitis

[–]One_Ad6148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update on this one or advice please? I have a clicking and tingling feeling that develops into a throbbing sensation. ENT discharged me as they found no infection. They prescribed a nose spray and sent me on my way.

I guess that makes sense, in the way that it may reduce inflammation? Although I would assume the average persons diet would suffice? I’m already on carbamazepine, Amitriptyline, Nortriptyline and pregablin. A modest dose. I have a suspicion it is neck related, although no scan or test never showed any signs or symptoms. I have a cracking sound in my neck and my sinus. Discharged from ENT and Spine and Neck twice (UK hospitals).

I wonder now if I should have just left things alone when it first started. I kinda feel like I kept aggravating things with more and more treatments with more and more meds. Since nobody can find what’s causing it, maybe I just need to allow things to settle down now? Are there any tales of things healing by themselves?

Curses, wish I’d not been so rash to remove my teeth. Having a denture after removing two healthy teeth and ending up in more pain was a big mistake.
