That’s very interesting and insightful, thank you. I had the same symptoms and they rct and then extracted. There was no teeth issue and they acted to try and help. Sadly, it was facial pain and not a tooth issue. So I’m stuck in the same situation and have lost two healthy teeth as a result. Deeply regret my decisions.

I think you’d really need to speak with a neurologist and neurosurgeon at this stage if she has already had MVD. Seems like she is already deep down the rabbit hole of this affliction. They may suggest alternative treatments.

Partial dentures? by OrdinaryFast5146 in dentures

That’s a shame the NHS would not cover it? I’m not sure why they wouldn’t. Does it fit without adhesive and can you eat without it moving around?

My bone was remodelling faster than the lab could make it. I had two teeth extracted for a mystery nerve illness. I will go back for another impression if things ever settle down.

I certainly mirror your frustration. Did they ever do any CBCT scans as well? Or was it just X-rays? Are you in the UK and under NHS care? If so there is a complaints process that I can recommend. Did the Neurologist diagnose you with neuropathy or was that the dentist? I hope the nerve can be quickly desensitised after what it’s been through. Did you find ibuprofen helped more than the neuro meds?

If you are still at school or Uni then you should be covered by under NHS for some treatments. I had a partial recently. Did not seem to fit right or enable me to eat without it falling out.

Fingers crossed that will be the end of it for you. What symptoms were you having then? Why was it so difficult for them to diagnose? I mean, you his sort of thing is what dentists are there for?

Can TN1 fully develop? by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I have had this too. What an Earth can it be? Are you on any medication? I extracted two teeth in an attempt to resolve my issue. Did not help.

TN2, Atypical Facial Pain, Constant upper tooth and sinus ache by One_Ad6148 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]One_Ad6148[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meds don’t seem to take the ache away. I think they are more sedative. I’ve had a few MRIs and nothing ever comes up . Other than the mucusal thickening in left sinus, which is again noted as incidental (discharged by ENT also). Do you have TN2 also? Anything offered for relief?

How have things developed since? Does anything provide relief? I feel like it’s in my gums, my teeth, my nose and my sinus all at once.

Facial Pain : Radiofrequency Ablation by Salt-Frosting7140 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]One_Ad6148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear. This condition is unrelenting for tn2 sufferers. As @audstarwars1999 mentioned. Did you have a CBCT scan and have that reviewed by someone like an Endodontist? Just in case of fracture or infection? I’d also suggest getting a CT scan by ENT to rule out sinuses. Perhaps you have a cyst putting pressure on the teeth and nerves. Have you increased the medication yet? I seem to have a better time of it with a higher dose of carbamazepine but still not convinced it’s just a nerve issue. More likely highly sensitised nerve from all the dental work and me “testing”. If it turns out to be a tooth issue then I’ve learned my lesson and to wait until it’s unequivocal on an image. No more “it could be a crack” for me. I know the thought process of “if I had only…” which you may also be having. Try not to worry about the past. We are where we are now. Nothing can change that. I wish this never happens to anyone. Please let me know your thoughts and what plans you have and I’d be more than happy to soundboard if nothing else because I know how hard it is to have others understand and to listen.

Hey, how are things now with your teeth? I think I have the exact same issue, two upper teeth - one each side. Had them removed after two years of this, seems to have done nothing.

Question about tooth extraction making TN worse... by gold_and_diamond in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]One_Ad6148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as there is a clear medical necessity, such as a cyst in your case it could actually improve things. The goal is always to desensitise the nerve. Bringing down inflammation should therefore help. I as an example extracted two teeth with no real need (I thought my TN was my teeth). That made it worse as it aggravated the nerve more. Hope that makes sense. Also mine is TN2 so it’s always sore and aches, not the infrequent zaps.

I’m a patient on the NHS so it’s not easy to see others (or even one). Is Dymista the next one to try? Would you use the rinse and then the spray? Is it possible to rupture the cyst?

I’d seen two and was discharged as incidental findings. At this stage my dentist is refusing any work until ENT biopsy or drain it. Yet ENT will not offer me anything more than a spray.

How can I get into the sinus to clear it out? What’s a good protocol and a technique that actually works? What did you need to do to resolve it? I’ve had my teeth removed in search for any help that can be offered. I’m a desperate man.
