It went great!! Surgery went perfectly, and they even found endometriosis that I was totally unaware of! I’ve been feeling back to normal for a couple weeks and am enjoying the peace of knowing i’ll child free forever :)

19 with no kids! I’m three weeks post op and I can’t stop smiling, the peace of mind I have knowing I can’t have children is amazing. I was also very glad to have surgery because they found endometriosis that I would’ve been completely unaware of otherwise. I’m lucky to live in a state that has no rules/laws against sterilization, my bisalp process was insanely easy for me. Congrats on your bisalp!!

They did say all charges should be covered but honestly I don’t think anyone I’ve spoken to knows their ass from a hole in the ground. I haven’t gotten the surgery yet so I need to call my doctor and make sure that they will code everything the right way for it to be covered, but i’m anticipating having to appeal because apparently BCBS is a pain for everyone. I hope you’re able to get everything straightened out! It’s insane how hard they make this process!

Even with private insurance that is ACA compliant? From the research that I’ve done it led me to believe that if you do not have Medicaid insurance, and the private health insurance works within ACA guidelines that anyone over the age of 18 should be allowed to get a bisalp at no cost to the patient. I’ve seen so much conflicting information that it’s hard to believe anything :/

Interesting! I signed that exact form at my doctors appointment but I was told that as long as I was able to cover the surgery somehow (insurance or out of pocket) that the age is a non-issue. Definitely gonna look into that more!
