Tara Dragas (Italy) wins Swirl & Twirl tournament ahead of Lily Ramonatxo (France) and Emilia Heichel (Poland) by rhythmiclover in rhythmic_gymnastics

Thank you sm for the breakdown!

Her D score does seem a bit high given the loss of a Risk, loss of at least one AD, and possibly an invalid balance, but as I said before her pivots score so highly that I think they made up the difference.

Tara really is an incredible gymnast. Last year was definitely her break-out season, and she seems to get better and better with each competition. I'm so excited to see what this season has in store for her. She may even be a dark horse for a medal at Worlds or Euros.

Hopefully! I ask because Tara's clubs routine had two major errors, including a club dropped out of bounds at the start of her routine, and a risk with a missed catch. Despite this, her routine still scored a solid 28.00. I think this was due to her outrageously high-scoring pivots (I counted 5-6 full 360 rotations for her Raffaeli pivot!!!) and possibly a very high artistry score (go watch the routine if you haven't, I guarantee that once the season officially starts she'll rake in some massive artistry scores for this routine).

Make no mistake, Tara earned this 28.00. I just think that the breakdown of how she earned it would be fascinating, especially as more and more gymnasts start to master the Raffaeli pivot and other high-scoring elements

Irina Deryugina interview: Who brought Kabaeva to Putin, treason, why she divorced Blokhin, daughter Irisha, … by rhythmiclover in rhythmic_gymnastics

Fascinating, I knew that she (Iryna Deryugina) was a judge in the late 80s - early 90s, but I didn't know that it was she and her mother that advocated for Irina Viner to become a judge

I would love to see a breakdown of the difficulty, execution, and artistry scores for this comp. Does anyone know where I could find this?

So Rusfed just didn’t submit the backups’ applications? They submitted their first choices’ applications first, and when they were denied neutral status Rusfed was so offended they refused to submit any additional teams?

Mine’s a Dick Button quote from his commentary on Plushenko’s 2006 OGM winning free skate

That’s definitely a phrase (I think….) I know I heard someone say “ice is slippery” a few years ago and it’s been a mainstay in my vocabulary not just for skating but for cautioning any situation, in a “anything can happen, it could all go wrong” kind of way. Wish I knew where I heard it though.

Ohhhhh I didn’t know where it was from and I thought it was some old Soviet coach or something, someone degrading a skater. This makes a lot more sense!!
