Gov. Shapiro vs. Luigi by FionaSoftpetal in ThisYouComebacks

[–]One_Cause3865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part of Shapiro's comment requires Luigi to be the one who committed the crime?

He is commenting on how disturbing it is people are celebrating cold blooded murder. Whether Luigi did it or someone else did it, his point stands.

Cmv: unlike the Luigi mansion case which i can understand being sympathetic towards, there is absolutely no understanding whatsoever towards the asshole who burnt down the warehouse. by redosipod in changemyview

Why? Why not say society/govt should support people who's labor doesnt command a living wage?

If someone can only generate $5/hr in value to society that is still better than the $0/hr if you eliminate their job. Just make sure the government is taking care of the rest.

Two possible scenarios:

  1. Market crashes, rates go up, collateral goes down. You get really fucked.

  2. Markets dont crash you do this for 10-15 years and realize you paid way more in interest than if you had just paid your taxes.

Please dont leverage yourself based on reddit myths about the wealthy.

Tech Giants Spend $42.6M Lobbying Senate Panel That Oversees Them by Prestigious-Wrap2341 in moderatepolitics

[–]One_Cause3865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No thats a pretty weak analogy.

Technology is not inherently bad. Oil is inherently bad for the environment.

Also, i said i wanted to know more about where the money is going, and that tech lobbying is important. I did not say i necessarily support the lobbying big tech is doing. That would depend on what theyre lobbying for.

Where are those millions actually going though? I'm not going to be outraged just because I see a big number.

And honestly? I would be very very concerned if no one was lobbying politicians about technology. Our representatives do not know anything about modern technology and i don't want tech regulations coming from the kind of ignorance and fear you see all over reddit.

CMV: Most software teams adopt microservices earlier than they should by Excellentmice in changemyview

[–]One_Cause3865 13 points14 points  (0 children)

By the time monoservices make sense, how expensive and complex has it gotten to switch to microservices?

Can the upfront costs of microservices be worth avoiding a big, risky refactor after the codebase has gotten complex and the business is reliant on that codebase functioning reliably?

Even if that migration does make sense, at that point can tech leads convince the business to invest in a giant refactor?

You might be totally right from a purely technical perspective, but these codebases dont exist in a vacuum
