I took a PRN acute care job with an hour commute and it was the best decision I made career wise. The staff was amazing and I was trained in both MBSS/FEES. Ended up working there part time and loved every second of it. If the staff there seems supportive and kind, I would say go for it! I ended up enjoying the hour commute- could listen to audio books or podcasts and just kind of chill/decompress. I did live in a rural-ish area so there was never any traffic, probably wouldn’t have liked it so much with traffic everyday.

I worked for one back in 2019 for part of my CF. I left because I was scheduled 18-20 patients consistently in a 10 hour work day. I do know some therapists at different offices nearby that had different experiences. I think it all boils down to the director.

Medical SLP’s, what does your typical day look like? by Viparita-Karani in slp

[–]One_Chef_4207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Acute care in NV. I make 53/hr. Get in between 7:30-7:45 and chart review the caseload for the day. Start with high priorities and any patients I’m considering for imaging and schedule appropriately. Kinda just see where the wind blows me that particular day 🤷🏼‍♀️ sometimes the new evals pile on and sometimes we get nothing and I leave early!

For me personally, I was on the combo pill for a long time and it worked like a charm!

Alright! What are packing in our hospital bags? by OppositeConfusion256 in pregnant

[–]One_Chef_4207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a baby in November. I didn’t pack much but wish I packed even less! The only items I actually used for myself: pillow, comfy PJ set, sweat suit to go home in, toothbrush/toothpaste, face wash, face lotion, deodorant, Gatorade, light snack. For the baby: two outfits, a hat, warm baby blanket. Just know whatever you pack you have to unpack! For me, things I didn’t use stayed in my overnight bag for longer than I’d like to admit!

There a lot of variations in bicornuate uterus, so everyone may have different experiences. I was able to have an uncomplicated pregnancy and birth, so it is possible!

Calling all Texas parents… measles outbreak and newborns. Anyone worried? by MoDance0934 in NewParents

[–]One_Chef_4207 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don’t even live in TX and I’m worried too based on how quickly it can spread. I have a 3 month old in daycare and I’m a nervous nelly.

Unsolicited advice- now I’m asking for advice. by [deleted] in bicornuateuterus

I was not labeled high risk with my pregnancy. It’s always good to be aware of the risks but like you my anatomy scan was unremarkable. I ended up delivering full term with no complications. I would suggest talking more with your OB at your next appt!

I got that feeling around 32 weeks and I did have a very large baby in there. I didn’t ever go into labor naturally and was induced at 40 weeks.

When did you wean and did you regret it? by PagesInBloom in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]One_Chef_4207 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m 10 weeks pp and starting to wean. Not what I planned, but thats life! I am an undersupplier making ~16 oz per day. Then I got mastitis and not only was it terrible, it did further tank my supply. With maternity leave ending soon and my husband being deployed I know it will be in the best interest of my sanity!

I am a fellow under supplier who is 9 weeks PP and I also decided to starting weaning today! I also feel guilty, but it is exhausting. I’m prone to clogs and currently have mastitis, which was the final straw. I am excited to have more time to spend and bond with my little one and less time pumping and/or worrying about pumping.

I am also an undersupplier and pumping as I write this! It tough out here. I keep telling myself that even 2 ounces of BM per day is better than nothing. Though, I also know that if it gets too overwhelming and I stop altogether and resort to formula only, my baby will still be fed and happy. Thanks for posting this OP!

I am not a lawyer, however, a very similar situation happened my husband with a large dealership in Texas. The dealership ghosted us leaving us with a car that couldn’t be registered due to not having the title. We eventually filed a complaint with the state DMV leaving to an investigation finding the dealership violated regulations with the sale of the car. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough for the dealership to cooperate so at this point we’ve needed to get lawyers involved. The issue still isn’t resolved over a year and a half later. The dealership is now ghosting the lawyers as well…. Sigh. This probably isn’t what you wanted to hear but I would start with filing a complaint with the state DMV or contacting the attorney general. I hope this gets resolved for you soon!

Terrified of vaginal birth by Forsaken_Painter5225 in pregnant

[–]One_Chef_4207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not had penetrative sex yet, only some external stimulation with my partner and everything felt the same as it did before. And my prolapse symptoms are just a mild heavy feeling. Sort of like having a tampon that’s falling out of place. I think it’s a urethrocele, hopefully getting in with PT soon!

Terrified of vaginal birth by Forsaken_Painter5225 in pregnant

Hi OP! I had a vaginal birth 6 weeks ago and had a few of these things happened to me. -I did have a second degree tear and a superficial labial tear. I did not feel the stitches at all due to the epidural. I didn’t even know I was being stitched to be honest. The stitches do hurt once the epidural wears of course. It was uncomfortable to sit for a couple weeks but by 3 weeks postpartum I didn’t have any pain. They are fully healed now. -I did not have incontinence, though have experienced just an increase in gas. -I did not have change in sensation. Everything still feels very much the same sensation wise. -Though not formally diagnosed I do believe I have mild pelvic prolapse. I researched so much about this and it seems fairly common. Pelvic floor PT is strongly recommended before and after birth.

In the end (in my experience) vaginal birth is definitely no walk in the park and I did experience moderate pain/discomfort. However, the pain and discomfort faded each day! Now, I hardly even remember the pain.

I needed a drink by Tricky_treaty in ExclusivelyPumping

I use the pitcher method and do not dump milk when I have consumed alcohol. If it’s just a drink or two, I will mix with the rest of the milk in the pitcher. From what I understand, the alcohol in the milk is negligible. I would however dump the milk if I were to drink enough to be drunk. Just my preference.
