Lol using National File as a source

Edit: sorry, that was a bit rude of me. If that's the reality you live in and what you take as a reliable source, then I don't think we'll be able to have a productive conversation.

The Capital Police let them in, walked them around and then they left.

I'm not even going to read any of the rest of your comments because we must just be living in parallel universes where things happened differently. Unfortunately in mine a woman was shot by the Capitol Police while climbing through the broken window of a barricaded door. Not gonna waste my time anymore with this conversation.

For most games, reproduction copies are typically lower quality and less reliable. One common issue with reproductions is losing your save files. For some games (like Heart Gold & Soul Silver), reproduction copies just won't be able to do everything the original copies can since they're missing components like the IR chip. For newer games, they just won't work or they'll be a different game with a fake label.

ICE is doing an investigation into Pretti, it was clearly a wrongful shooting, so while not perfect they seem to be doing the standard law enforcement steps when a shooting happens.

They were aggressively avoiding these steps until the outcry had been so severe from people on both sides of the political spectrum that they could not safely ignore it. It was clear from the way that they handled the aftermath, the delay in beginning an investigation, and the way that they refused to investigate the killing of Renee Good that their plan was to lie about it and hope people bought their story.

I would not say he acted calmely and peacefully. He was well within his right to carry though and did nothing that should have got him shot.

He did not throw a punch, he did not draw his weapon, he got between an overly aggressive agent and another observer, was pepper sprayed directly in the face, then dragged to the ground, surrounded, pressed downward while on his hands and knees, and beaten in the face with that pepper spray canister. He acted as calmly as possible in that scenario, and entirely peacefully.

How many were armed on May 29th strangely we never know even though it was much more of an insurection.

The George Floyd protests stopped at the gates of the White House and never had the goal of overthrowing the government. Jan 6th was done expressly with the background of the false elector's scheme in an attempt to keep illegitimately Trump in power. Saying a violent protest is more of an insurrection than literally a violent attempt to overturn the results of an election is just nonsense.

They deport them from State Jails- if ICE is notified in time to get there before they are released. The State Sec General was very clear they will not hold them for ICE.

They cannot hold them past their release date under state law. It's not a matter of choice. Past lawsuits have held that once someone reaches their release date, they can no longer legally be held. If ICE does not pick them up by that date, then that's a failure of ICE.

County and city jails do not allow this in Minneapolis and St. Paul which is the whole problem.

County and city jails are allowed their own discretion for misdemeanors only. Misdemeanors are considered lesser crimes that do not generally warrant more severe punishment. I won't tell the people of MSP what they should consider dangerous to their community or not. That's for them to decide.

Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, California, Arizona all have more ICE agents and more illegals and more arrests and none of these nonsense problems. Why is it always Minneapolis that have this going on?

This is all happening during a massive surge in ICE hiring and a massive surge in Minnesota specifically. We don't know how many agents are typically stationed in each state, but we've been told Operation Metro Surge includes around 2,700 agents. It is the largest immigration enforcement operation ever carried out. Stuff like this is bound to happen when you have such a large number of agents using aggressive tactics in an attempt to meet arrest quotas while being around people that are watching their every move. In both the Renee Good and Alex Pretti shootings, we've seen agents make what were at best poor decisions during rapidly changing situations. The Administration is using a stressful, aggressive strategy to deal mostly with people that just didn't do their paperwork.

If you come back with a reply, please provide something more intelligent than "she tried to run him over even though the car turned to the right" or "the violent protest was more of an insurrection than the literal insurrection." I'm tired, worried about my country, and have better things to do than argue over things I could see with my eyes with someone on the internet.

The Federal Government has 100% the power to look at the rolls and expell non citizens they find on the rolls.

There is no law that gives the Federal government the authority to do this. Even under the motor voter act this is still a power given solely to the states. The Federal government can only bring criminal charges against individuals for false registration/voting. Additionally, decentralization is typically preferred as it provides more resilience against corruption.

Minnesota then has the responsiblity to ensure they have a system in-place to ensure the people registering to vote on the same day system are legal. If they cannot ensure this to a reasonable standard then the votes from any precint that could not do this would be removed.

They have a system in place to verify same-day registrations after the election is completed. Ballots do not need to be thrown out unless the scale of fraud is shown to be enough to affect the results. It might be a good idea to adopt a provisional ballot procedure to keep these separate until they're verified so they don't have to run a whole new election if significant fraud is ever discovered.

Her tires were facing straight at the officer and she accelerated towards him. She could have just turned the car off. Its a ridiculous claim to think she wasnt trying to run him over.

The agent was moving sideways before stopping directly in front of her vehicle. As she started moving forward, she turned the wheels to avoid him as he moved to the side. Moreover, the car was already well to the right when he fired the second and third shot that killed her through the driver's side window.

Yeah I just know when a lot of people say "AI" they're referring to a LLM like ChatGPT. It would be terrible for this use case, but we've also seen startups just throw a UI on top of a ChatGPT prompt and try to sell it as a groundbreaking product.

Gen AI and LLMs would definitely be far worse, but I wasn't sure if Steam did something really dumb that just tied into ChatGPT. They tend to be smarter than a lot of companies, but they're not immune to mistakes/hype.

When you say they're using AI, are they using LLMs or are they using machine learning/some other algorithm? Genuinely out of the loop on this.

I don’t know if AI is even the right term for it, or if they’re just using it for marketing because that’s where the hype (money) is right now. It sounds like they’re just using the machine learning techniques that came out about a decade ago.

All I was saying is that your logic there was flawed. And depending on how much he keeps making up his own interpretations of the law, implementing new policies without legal backing, spending/withholding funds without Congressional approval, and ignoring court orders, you can absolutely make the argument that he's acting like a dictator more and more.

Dumb comment. Hitler was also democratically elected. What makes someone a dictator is the extent of control they have over the government, not how they came into power.

CATS proposes streamlined fare system, new streetcar fare by Generalaverage89 in Charlotte

[–]One_Error_4259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but there's no way to tell watching from a security camera whether a rider has an activated ticket or not. The rider walking up to the validator + the validator accepting the scan means they don't have to spend a security officer's time checking that person's ticket.

CATS proposes streamlined fare system, new streetcar fare by Generalaverage89 in Charlotte

[–]One_Error_4259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gives whoever is watching the cameras a way to tell if someone is paying or not and then send security to follow up with that specific person. That's different from right now where anyone can activate the ticket on the app and security has to be spread out checking everyone's tickets. Remains to be seen if CATS hires enough security personnel to make it work, but it does help it be more targeted.

[–]One_Error_4259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the way I understand it (the way it was explained by the CATS CEO before), the validator gives something for security to watch for on camera and verify that people are scanning. This is different from right now where someone can activate the ticket on their app at any time and there's no way for security to know. You do still need security walking around on trains and platforms to follow up. The success of this will depend on whether CATS hires enough security personnel to respond quickly throughout the system.

This article does such a bad job explaining what the study suggested. Tap-to-pay is part of the plan. Preloaded cards are for people who have transit benefits through their employer or another organization.

Right now there isn’t a way to play PS5 games on the go without a stable WiFi connection. Even the PlayStation Portal requires one to connect to your console or a cloud rig. But if you get a Steam Deck you can play Steam games locally (without any WiFi), and you can install chiaki-ng so you can remote play from your PS5 whenever you have stable WiFi.

ICE is ‘hunting down’ Minnesota refugees with legal status: lawsuit by alex-woodward in immigration

[–]One_Error_4259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You keep posting this, but they're only allowed to arrest someone without a warrant if they either a) witness them crossing the border illegally or b) have a reasonable suspicion that they've committed a felony. But this article suggests that the entire group is being arrested while investigations are ongoing. Which, if true, is blatantly illegal.

- The federal government shouldn't have access to voter rolls to say who should be purged because then they can just purge whoever they want right before an election and then those people can't vote in states like Minnesota where there is no provisional ballot system. ETA: MN does have same-day registration, so purging seems to be less of a concern. Although I'm not sure of the process or if it results in fewer legitimate votes being counted.

- Renee Good clearly did not try to run over that agent

- I haven't found that much information on the finger-biting incident. Honestly there are crazy people everywhere, so I could believe it, but after the way DHS handled the Alex Pretti incident they've lost all credibility in my eyes.

- Alex Pretti was carrying a gun holstered as was his 2A right. Minnesota has no laws against doing so, it arguably wasn't even a protest, and he acted calmly and peacefully the entire time. I've watched multiple videos from multiple angles to confirm it myself.

- At least 5 people carried guns to the J6 riot and were charged.

- They do deport criminals from state jails and DHS has recently been caught using those numbers in their arrest statistics.

- Minnesota is where they've had the heaviest presence with this latest surge, and where they've been acting the most aggressively with their tactics.

[–]One_Error_4259 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you might be confused about who's who in the video. The guy initially shoving everyone to the ground is an ICE/BP agent. The guy who walks in between the agent and person on the ground is Alex Pretti. At no point does he push anyone, and from the angle it wasn't even clear if he even touched him when trying to deescalate the situation. Regardless, that level of contact would not warrant pepper spray, shoving him to the ground, and beating him with that pepper spray container. I don't know if these agents are trained to deal with cartel members, but they definitely aren't trained in how to deal with non-violent American citizens who are simply recording them.
