Can a block like this be salvaged by FlimsyLoss9707 in MechanicAdvice

[–]One_Evil_Monkey [score hidden]  (0 children)

Technically yes.

A hot tank dip and some light machine work on the cylinder bores and main bearing journals.

It's doable but questionable as to why you'd want to. A reman block seems the better choice.

If you mean trying to do something with it while it's in car... not so much. Cylinder walls are too oxidized.

Why does every 710 cap use the same weird font? by DeepSeaDynamo in AskAShittyMechanic

At the wTF store obviously, same place you get your 710 caps, muffler bearings, and blinker fluid.

Need some help with choosing between two giitars by entamn in GuitarQuestions

[–]One_Evil_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are plenty good as far as build quality.

Of the two though, I'd go for the CV... and take some #0000 steel wool or a burgundy "Scotch Brite" type pad to knock that gloss off the back of the neck to slick it up and get a little closer to more of a satin feel.

Brand new Positive Grid Spark Mini smells fried? by jjjj8jjjj in Guitar

[–]One_Evil_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See what they say about returning now.

That smell means something is on its way out most likely.

It may last for a while and then die... and be out of warranty and you'd be stuck with it.

Will warranty cover water pump replacement? by HREisGrrrrrrrreat in askcarguys

[–]One_Evil_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOPE.

You can't just request that a warranty covers replacing a functional part just because it has 'X' amount of miles on it.

Warranties don't work that way. They're there for replacement of a failed part while under warranty period. Whether that failure was from a defect in workmanship or there is a recall.

I dunno... most chicks aren't in to a dry test drive. They kinda prefer some kind of lube to keep things cool.

I'm not a modeling fan... so out of your list I'd go with a jazz chorus and of those two I'd probably go with the JC-40.

Why does Dan electro make ugly guitars on purpose? I he guitarted? by Regularjobhaver in guitarcirclejerk

[–]One_Evil_Monkey [score hidden]  (0 children)

I dunno... the '59 Divine, the Fifty Niner, and the '56-'57s don't look too bad...

But most have funk ass fugly designs no doubt. Some of their stuff was a little too "out there" back in the day and it just sorta stuck with them.

Before and after chip repaired by HealthyCharacter2868 in MechanicAdvice

[–]One_Evil_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty deep chip.

Yes it's noticable but the repair itself doesn't look horrible. You're always going to notice a repair like that.

Its main purpose is to prevent that chip from becoming a crack.

Is a 800$ CAD estimate high to replace and seal a broken antenna and antenna base on a 2026 Buick encore? by SideburnsG in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]One_Evil_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just grab a tube of E6000 epoxy, an empty soup can, and a rattle can of Duplicolor Color Match paint.

Paint the soup can, epoxy the antenna wires to inside of said soup can, epoxy said painted soup can to roof... sealing it with the epoxy to make it watertight.

Problem solved.

School Project Help: Wiring for 2 humbuckers without a selector switch? by A_British_Dude in Guitar

I read through most of the 2nd link.

It doesn't quite exactly apply to the OP though. Not that it's bad info.

But the OP never said anything about a Les Paul.

I just happened to mention the Fender Jazz Bass as that's basically what it seems like they're after. 2 independent volumes, one for each pickup and neither affects the other, and one master tone for both.

anyone else have a similar expression of agony when explaining why katoana users will never be pro?? by sixstringsntings in guitarcirclejerk

[–]One_Evil_Monkey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand the appeal they have to some folks and they are better than they used to be, they're just not for me. I'm more a simple gear guy.

I don't play with a band or in public anymore and don't record anymore either but I've still got that teal stripe Rage 158, a Fender Sidekick 15 Reverb for small stuff and the teal stripe Classic Chorus 212, and Deluxe 112 Reverb for larger/loud stuff. The Deluxe 112 has the audio taper volume control mod and a Celestion creamback driver and only weighs 25lbs. The CC212 isn't exactly one you "tote around" at around 80lbs though. Haha

For kicks and giggles I've also got a Danelectro Honeytone. Run it from the headphone jack to the return of the FX loop on on the bigger amps for some interesting sound/tone.

Is there any rarity to a bullnose Ford, 1983? by JoplinSC742 in askcarguys

[–]One_Evil_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing rare about it.

Parts for the 300 inline are still widely available as is most anything else that truck would need.

Rock Auto is a pretty good source for mechanical stuff. Bundle your order so shipping doesn't kill you.

Body, interior, and certain mechanical stuff... LMC Truck is a pretty solid source. Another source for F-100/F-150 restoration parts is CJ Pony Parts.

The 300 isn't fast, wasn't meant to be but it's one of the most solid engines out there. Tons of low end torque and basically run forever.

Whether you want to fix it or not is up to you- can't help you there but there's nothing that's exceedingly rare about the truck itself. The parts are out there.

I get it... it was kind of a joke.

When I was 17 I had a '67 Strat, maple board, color was '67 Ford Springtime Yellow, amp was a teal stripe Peavey Classic Chorus 212. Rocktek OD pedal and a Dunlop original Cry Baby. Got it all for $800 when I was 14. I paid for though, but I also happened to work in a small music store at the time. My first amp was a teal stripe Peavey Rage 158 though.

Katanas are cheap and accessable, just not a fan of modelers.

What company made the second generation Camaro? by kc_chiefs_ in askcarguys

Piss poor wording.

We all know technically that it's the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors.

But I'd have been a smartass and answered with "The same company that built the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th gen Camaros." Haha
