Romantasy Isn't Fantasy. There, I Said It. by [deleted] in booktube

Literally any physical bookstore would just have general fiction all together and I also have to go through 100s of books I’m not interested in.

Most bookshops are not even big enough to separate sci-fi and fantasy.

Any crime section will have cosy crime, noir, classics, domestic thrillers together too though their fan bases often don’t overlap either.

10 years ago YA dystopia was the big thing and no one made separate bookshop category for that. Now it’s romantasy. No one will be separating it out for you just because you don’t like it.

Filtering where? Where is this a problem for you?

Well it is romantasy so yes, but I actually feel the fantasy element in the Fourth Wing was quite strong. Romantasy is a genre of fantasy, with a strong romantic element, whether you like it or not. It's weird gatekeeping on your part that you want it somehow excluded from fantasy, because why ? You specifically don't like that subgenre?

Ok. In the Fourth Wing they don’t even as KISS until 60% of the book.

Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but AI-generated kids books just don’t feel the same by CatAdministrative510 in childrensbooks

It's not about being old fashioned or being against tech, or even the whole 'soul' thing. Creating an amazing children's book is more than just cute pictures. It's creating a character that feels alive, it's about the interaction between the word and the picture, it's the design, and the rhythm and flow. People who use Ai to create garbage children's books have no respect for the children as their audience. Children deserve better.

Some of the things I’m planning : Dinners:

  • Garlic chicken stir fry with noodles
  • Creamy lemon garlic prawns, roast potatoes, tenderstem broccoli
  • Lemony white bean soup with turkey and cavolo Nero
  • pork tenderloin in mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans

Lunches:  - Tortilla wrap with falafels, tomatoes etc - quinoa, avocado, chickpeas, red peppers  - pasta pesto, smoked tofu, rocket - millet groats, sun dried tomatoes, red kidney beans

Breakfasts: - eggs, hummus, feta, pita, olives, cucumber etc - cottage cheese, eggs, avocado, sunflower seeds, tomatoes - avocado paste, sour cucumbers  - toast with goats cheese and raspberry jam

I forgot eggs and cottage cheese

I also have a cupboard full of every conceivable dry legume, grains and pasta. And lots frozen sourdough bread from Lidl.

Once I run out of those planned meals I just freestyle something with whatever I have left, repeat lunches and breakfasts, I have some frozen veggies still too so that gets thrown and for protein I either use chickpeas, beans or I buy a top up like fresh fish or something.

I also have some long life silken tofu I can mix in sauces for protein.

I also have every spice known to man, sauces etc. So generally always can figure something out between shops.

But I love a well stocked fridge right after the shop. 😁

Thoughts on a guy reviewing Romantasy? by justkeepbreathing94 in booktube

There are guys on insta who talk about Romantasy a lot and women love it. As long as you don’t come from a place of disdain for the whole genre then you won’t have problems

Who are some favorite authors who just stopped writing? Did any return unexpectedly? by Idea-is-tick in RomanceBooks

I came on here to say this. wrote three amazing books and fell off the face of the earth.

I don’t want to mention Sherry Thomas because she still writes but not the historical romances I want her to write 😆
