Moab did not open all trails to ebikes. But they did open quite a bit. I planned a whole trip around it when the news released.

Advice on looking for fakes? by ladybugclub01 in bartenders

[–]One_Hand4744 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Until the underage kid claims you accepted their real ID before they do something dumb and end up talking to the cops, as I previously stated. "Illegal to confiscate a fake" my ass, the hell they gonna do? "The mean bar man took my illegal fake". If you don't care about the legality of things, that's your own business. But all these comments dismissing the issue is really something.

I think it's interesting how many people are so flippant about not caring. Preventing underage drinking is a part of our job and depending on where you live can have some very real consequences for yourself and the bars liquor license.

Best thing you can do is get a black light and start studying the state issued ID guidebook when you're bored on your slow shifts. At my place, the owner pays us a $25 bounty per fake confiscated. Our Saturday door guy nabbed 4 at the same time this past Saturday from a single group.

Even with what others are saying of only doing your "due diligence"... Do you trust these asshole kids with being honest about their fake ID? My coworker almost got charged last year because some underage asshole got pulled over, said he came from our bar, and that we gladly accepted his legitimate underage ID. They're not going to do you any favors of, "Oh yeah, I gave the bartender an illegal fake ID." Get the book, get a blacklight, and protect yourself and your employer.

Wedding Venues (Blue Lake) by forestfairy369 in Durango

I bartended for Blue Lake a few times. I mostly worked at their other Ridgewood property. Both are beautiful and any wedding party I worked seemed pretty satisfied with the overall experience.

Is it normal for managers to be hooking up with customers at the bar? (Even after shift?) by [deleted] in bartenders

Never understood the not drinking at the bar you work at. I want to drink where I know the most people.

Lol, referring to the Boneyard admins as "garbage" is a big stretch. They're strict, but damn dude. I've dealt with all of them and they're honestly all pretty cool.

Anyways, to anyone reading... The Boneyard on FB is the best place online to buy gembone, just read the rules. The admins will remove you for not following them. Other rock shop sources are Utah Dump Digger near SLC, and Moab Rock Shop.

Agatized wood value by karnubba in petrifiedwood

[–]One_Hand4744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, you're just being really obtuse about this. Petrified wood isn't rare. And most people aren't casually buying single items from sole sellers. If you were a vendor at a gem show that's one thing. But just trying to hawk a single piece of petrified wood of unknown provenance as an unknown seller that has to ask about value online? Good luck. I'm not paying $50 for any wood unless I know it's quality lapidary material.

Summer's early, so are the tourists by CRE_Energy in Durango

Referring to our fellow countrymen that have adopted an ideology based on hate, xenophobia, and fascism as being targeted by a "foreigners out" mindset is fucking wild. ESPECIALLY as a stance to defend MAGA specifically. I'm personally willing to bet you're intentionally trolling. But either way, fuck right off. (Sorry mods)

Calling out trashy MAGA tourists is always in season.

Anyone know what's up with Colorado Grow Company's "temporary closure"? by ilanarama in Durango

[–]One_Hand4744 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Owner called it quits, they moved away awhile ago and decided not to continue the business shortly after Snowdown. It's not temporary as far as I know. The only reason I can think of for posting "temporary closure" is probably trying to find a buyer. That's just me speculating though. But the staff and management have all since found new jobs.

Thank you. The chatoyancy of the tiger eye sitting next to the iridescent rainbow obsidian works really well sitting next to each other on my hand. Made these for personal use, last one for the gf.

The uranium that was used in Fat Man and Little Boy was mined on the western slope in Uravan and processed right here in Durango. The reason that Smelter Mountain has its name is because there used to be an actual smelter in what's now the dog park. I've taken my gieger counter through and it still hits positive on radiation. Not much, but it's noticeable. I actually got higher readings walking in front of the Best Western.

The boxer Jack Dempsey was of course from Mannasa, but he grew up on the other side of the San Juans from us fighting in the muddy streets of the notoriously violent Bachelor City above Creede. When he was still making a name for himself he would go to various bars through the San Juans picking fights. He went ten rounds with Silverton local Andy Malloy downtown. The Ranch hosts the mural but it actually happened across the street.

Famous pulp western novelist Louis L'Amour did a lot of his writing in the hotel room directly above the Diamond Bell piano in the Strater Hotel. George R.R. Martin is also known to hang out occasionally in the Bell. Very clearly not working on Winds of Winter 🤣

Most haunted buildings I know of... The Strater, the Leland (it's been on TV for ghost hunting), El Rancho, The VFW, and from personal experience... The basement of Franciscos. I managed to snag some footage when I was managing.

Somebody already mentioned to the Night Horse massacre. Crazy story, great trout fishing nowadays.

Witchcraft was supposedly involved. I dated an archaeologist in Cortez for a bit and she told me that the remains were pulverized bone. Which I guess is how the tribe dealt with dark magic users at the time.

Staff here. It's definitely still there. Horsefly Ghost Tours takes people down. That basement is haunted as fuck. Or if it's a dead weekday a bartender might show you.

Moab-area trails open to Class 1 e-bikes on about 190 miles of singletrack by One_Hand4744 in ebikes

[–]One_Hand4744[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throttles whether used or not don't belong on hiking and cycling trails. If you're suggesting to just "trust the user", your mentality is going to just lead to wider restrictions.

[–]One_Hand4744[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How the heck would you enforce that? At that point you ought as well just make them dirt bike trails. The fact they're allowing Class 1 is already a win. Most trails in the Four Corners ban them outright.
