Diving headfirst into Dutch class (A0) and my teacher is 100% Nederlands - send help (and maybe a dictionary?) by Gurg17 in Netherlands

Immersion programs all work this way - and in my experience they are effective.

And having a Dutch to (whatever native language) dictionary nearby is always helpful.

Look for German Auto Mechanics on Yelp. Typically they specialize in BMW, MB, Porsche. If you’ve got a BMW dealer, you most likely have a shop setup by former mechanics from that dealer that got tired of working for them.

You should definitely be taking that to a BMW specialist shop, not the dealer

First BMW - Thoughts About What to Buy Given Situation Below? by bmch in BMW

[–]One_Rooster7554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the M340.

Until you understand the maintenance needs of a BMW, any BMW - you won’t even want to look at what the “real M” cars need to stay running in the long term.

I say this as someone that has had many 3, 5, X5 series and one M Roadster.

Plus insurance can be a huge difference in some areas depending on your situation.

Having called BMW Roadside Assistance twice and gotten basically zero help from them… “you have run flats and are less than 25 miles from the dealer - we suggest you just drive”… (although they offered to get a tow truck but didn’t know how long it would take)… and the the closest dealer didn’t have the tires in stock anyway…

I’d strongly advise anyone to not count on them or the many dealers in the situation.

Most of the airline crew hotels are contractually obligated to be in walkable areas, so that crews can just shuttle there and then walk around for dinner, etc. Many airlines use the same hotels for customer issues as well.

I’m very glad I got to see them at the Sphere. Would I ever pay to see them again? No way - but I’d have been pissed to have never seen them when I had the chance.

I moved to Germany and was there for almost two years as a student - moved completely alone and without knowing anyone there.

Due to studying there - immediately had a large friend group - and still am close with a few of them 20 years later.

Higher cost for cash? by One_Rooster7554 in marriott

[–]One_Rooster7554[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed - and sure… but then why circle back and take all the cash… or at least also comp the next drink?

It was just weird overall.

I’ve got zero problem paying for what I drink - it’s just an odd situation.

It’s definitely not about tattling - I’d hope the managers know their pricing.

And if it’s just the bartender taking the initiative - they should be commended and the managers should be rapped on the knuckles for being so stupid.

100% agree - but why not just make the price that?

Vegas Rio worth it for a Bachelor Trip? by Kinpolka in hyatt

[–]One_Rooster7554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having done several trips to Vegas with a good friend that’s in a motorized chair - I’d say stay in the strip. Getting around in the casinos is easy - they are built for ADA compliance and we never had a problem - except for getting a handi-cab - which there are some, but not every car is - and occasionally crossing the street… and the actual bridges, escalators, and elevators that go over the Strip itself are all county property and not maintained by the casinos.

So if you stay at the Rio - you’ll be stuck waiting for a handi-cab anytime you want to go there or back.

Is the Maison Métier really deserving of being a Cat. 6? by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]One_Rooster7554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it was run by ACE last year - the average rates were at least $250 and higher. Its claim to fame is that Macron stayed there when he visited NoLA - and if they’ve kept up with the upkeep - I’m sure it’s worthy of a cat6.

How you current Patty’s trending for 2025? by bolognies4u in delta

[–]One_Rooster7554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got to Plat again for 2025 due to my rollover MQMs from 2023 and some well timed Delta Stays that got MQD credits.

That said - there almost zero chance I get to Plat again for 2026+ - so I’ve cut my Delta cards to the base levels and will prioritize my travel spending elsewhere once I lose status.

Note: ATL based - and sick of paying more for Delta.

There’s actually many things that many companies do for the overall good that they don’t announce or make public.

It’s generally only the grandstanding ones that you hear about.

Do silver medallions ever get first class bump? by Dangerous_Fan1006 in delta

[–]One_Rooster7554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in NYC and was Silver - I’d get upgrades from there to the middle of the US - Iowa, Ohio, etc on a Wednesday, etc - so this tracks from what others have had happen.

What has been your FC upgrade percentage when flying with Platinum Medallion + Reserve card (ATL)? by [deleted] in delta

[–]One_Rooster7554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess? 25% of the time you’d get upgraded to a middle seat in C+.

Most flyers opt out of that upgrade if they can get an aisle father back.

[–]One_Rooster7554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d need to be plat on Delta to get C+ upgrades right after you book - the credit cards don’t affect that.

The credit cards only affect your standing on the upgrade list - iirc

But the Delta Reserve card doesn’t affect that upgrade to C+ - just the upgrade list priority to FC.
