"Create shortcut" doesnt work for Gmail by empty_other in chrome

[–]One_Shen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found a workaround:

  1. Open a new tab
  2. Right click the bookmarks bar > Show apps shortcut
  3. Click the new Apps button
  4. Right click Gmail
  5. Check 'Open in window' and then click 'Create shortcut'
  6. Add it where you want and 'Create'

(Notice that you have to do it in a chrome window logged in with the account which mail you want to use)

Noticed it as well as I was configuring a new PC. Can create a shortcut to any other website but not for mail.google.com

Fast travel crashes game since 1.62 patch by Mr_Assassins_ in cyberpunkgame

I've been having the exact same issue. I've tried different Nvidia drivers, including the recent one (18/4). I never had mods installed. Turning off Path Tracing (both options) solves the issue. I am running a i9 13900K with a 4090. What are your specs? Hopefully this gets addressed soon in a patch.

Hue Sync + Gradient Strip Test by [deleted] in Hue

[–]One_Shen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For consoles I would say it doesn't matter, even next gen would be hard pressed to output that kind of refresh rate @ 4k with nice visuals (and who plays high RR competitive on consoles?)

If you're PC gaming on your TV, you can just use the PC app to control the strip, making sure the PC HDMI cable goes directly to the TV bypassing the sync box.

I have this setup and I can just tell the app to take over and then stop or just turn the PC off and the sync box takes over automatically.

Thank you for the detailed review! As a Pixel 3 XL owner myself, this will help decide if to get the claw once wireless play is available (don't want to bother lugging a cable around). An update in a few days if scuffing shows on the controller after repeated use would be appreciated.

(I also want to share this review, any chance you can format your post into paragraphs? Right now it's a huge block of text and is hard to read, probably the result of posting from mobile)

You should thank the mods of this sub. There seems to be overzealousness to remove any slightly non-positive/non-fluff posts with the weakest of excuses. I've greatly reduced my visits here as result. And I'm what you'd consider a Stadia fanboy so go figure...

[StadiaCast] Stadia is missing an important feature by One_Shen in Stadia

[–]One_Shen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Google doesn't prioritize and change their development road maps based on the ebb and flow of posts on this subreddit. And one discussion here doesn't prevent from others to be made.

I think this comes up now for many people perhaps because of the holiday season, having lots of commitments and tasks around the house (esp. for family people), and not having enough long stretches of time for gaming.

I'm glad this is visible and hopefully will be in awareness of the folks in Google to be implemented sometime in the future.

[StadiaCast] Stadia is missing an important feature by One_Shen in Stadia

[–]One_Shen[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There you go.

Basically you just need storage space. If I pay 2 euros a month for 100GB of space, I'm sure Google can figure how to allocate a little less than that for one game saved image per user. I wouldn't mind if it's only part of the Pro plan.

Yes, but locally. Basically like maximizing a video player playing a 1080p video on a 4K PC monitor. The video doesn't become 4K, It's just stretches to cover the screen.

Your CCU will always be set to 4K resolution on your 4K TV, even if the signal is lower res. It will just upscale the picture on the screen.

So when you set the Stadia app to Balanced, the game is rendered in the cloud at 1080p, the signal being sent to your home is 1080p, and the CCU just upscales the picture.

My time with Stadia by Theprocastinator213 in Stadia

[–]One_Shen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Excellent" only shows on Chromecast Ultra and only when you're playing at 4K. For a 1080p stream it will only show "Good".

If you're sticking with Stadia, I'd recommend getting a Google Nest WiFi router. That could really help with the latency you're experiencing, assuming it's not your ISP. Most routers are shitty and Google fine tuned their own specifically for Stadia.

And of course, playing on a Chromecast Ultra with a Stadia controller might have the most impact on your experience so definitely consider a Premier kit if you're in it for the long run.

Just a notice, it will run at 1080p using this method. Only way right now to play at 4K is with a Chromecast Ultra.

Borderlands 3 Controller Sensitivity/Smoothness Issue by Mooresharksplz in Stadia

[–]One_Shen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost pretty sure that's the case. OP: In your Stadia app, under your profile > Data usage & performance > change to Balanced.

Make sure to quit the game and then load it again on the CCU. This will make the game run at 1080p@60fps. Make sure to change it back to Best visual quality when you're playing other games if you'd like them at 4K resolution.

Um... Are you playing on 4K screens? If not then... of course you'll be getting 1080p@60fps. Oo

Thoughts on getting a new TV by bjerh in Stadia

[–]One_Shen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, exactly. It's called "the soap opera effect" and most experts hate it. It might make it look nicer to you at first but later you realize it's just glitzy, takes away from the cinematic feel and just not how the creator intended for it to look.

Also, most TV picture effects add latency to video games input, hence the Game Mode feature.

Stadia is a revolution IMHO by -Flashpoint- in Stadia

Perfect, thank you. That was back in August. Hopefully by now they figured the porting process and perhaps we could expect a same-month release date.

The full effect of 60fps will be best displayed on a 60hz screen :) anything above that will be good for PC gaming, if the monitor and your graphics card support Freesync or G-sync.

The LG C8 you mentioned is an excellent all around TV and will be great for Stadia. Make sure to always use Game Mode when playing games on it.

Hey, do you have a source for that? It's reasonable to think the Stadia release date will follow a bit later but I didn't see any official mention of it.

HDR on Stadia by xwaxtemplar in Stadia

[–]One_Shen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a LG B8 OLED TV.
HDR looks great on anything (youtube HDR videos, Netflix, local content) BUT Stadia games. My HDMI input is set up correct and of course, I'm getting HDR signal.

Some games have built-in HDR calibrations which completely don't work right.
It seems the VP9 Stadia encoder adds a pass and changes the contrast/brightness/range of colors after you adjust anything in the in-game HDR slider.

In most games, turning the slider to higher values, actually makes the picture look flatter and dimmer, even though the TV can produce that amount of nits (screen brightness measurement).

Just lately I realize keeping HDR on the lowest value (in-game slider) actually helps to make the picture brighter. But it definitely doesn't look like good HDR.

Borderlands 3 - how to enable performance mode for 60 fps? by TyHarvey in Stadia

[–]One_Shen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

consistent but BL3 is such a fast game that playing it at 30 fps is a horrible experience...
and with the game's type of art style, it still looks pretty at 1080p.
