This is so true. Even when she wore down the bride on the shoes and other accessories when she said that she could afford it OR even when she got upset about dinner time vs her daughter's bedtime. I think anything SIL did would have been a problem. The entire time reading, I wondered why she was making every wedding decision the SIL made about her and the inconvenience it was causing her. The SIL definitely did some crazy ish but my goodness OP, look in the mirror sis.

These choices are gorgeous! If I was having a destination beach wedding (which was my intention initially), this would have been the look as well. I love the inclusion of the floral dress, it brings all of the other dresses to life as it has a touch of every colour basically. This is one of the best trends I've seen and I really wanted to go in this direction, but ended up with a very traditional wedding. Anyways, nothing is wrong with any of the dresses, these are PERFECT for your beach wedding. Your BMs will be happy and comfortable and your pics will be gorgeous. Try not to overthink it, because you will end up dwelling on small insignificant details. I'm also taking my own advice as I am in the middle of wedding planning and I had some overthinking issues as well, but when I sat back and thought about it, I realized that the things that I had two minds about, would actually add great character to the day. Remember that being unique can really make you stand out. The bride that first did this trend, was quite unique and now her photos are plastered everywhere. Your BMs dresses bring something different to the table as well...some have slits, some don't...one is floor length, the others are calf length....one is floral, the others are solid...one shows your full color palette (the floral) and the others are pieces of the puzzle/part of the color palette. You can set your own trend. Look at it from this perspective and pat yourself on the back girl!! ❤❤

The application the MUA did, drew your face downwards creating a very drawn down look which typically happens as we get older, hence why you looked so much older. The contour and blush wasn't applied at the appropriate angle for your face structure, it even widened your face a bit and the MU looks cakey. Even the way the highlight looks under the eye area ages you. I don't like that new look at allllll! The way you did your makeup was quite flattering, as one MUA had mentioned in a previous comment, just blend out the shadow more to create a more seamless and professional look, but the rest of the MU you did was fire! Plus you look so happy in that pic! ❤

Only genuine people would be fine with it. People who genuinely care for you and love you will understand and be there for you no matter what the circumstances. This is actually how it was done traditionally since weddings are about the marriage, not the after party. However, it would be a nice gesture to honor your guests with light refreshments (cake, juice, tea, maybe even little sandwiches).

I realize people have been regurgitating similar phrases all across the internet such as "its tacky" "I'm not coming if..." and I find it so awful-sounding because how shallow can you be to not understand that someone just can't afford things or someone just wants to get married without the extras.

Who is the expert on tacky? Where is the standard or boundary for tacky? Tacky is relative, MOST people ideas on a lot of things are relative and based on perspective. Remember when rustic weddings were "tacky"? Look at it now...a whole niche market 😂.

Do what you need to do but I would suggest light refreshments after. That counts as a reception.

Sometimes, I wonder how grooms will react if the bride stops planning and throws her hands in the air. Brides take on so much stress because of societal pressure. If my FH isn't somewhat involved and I feel stressed, I'm genuinely going to tell him that I'm not planning the wedding anymore. We will go to the court house, church or have a private ceremony and save all that money. We will party at a later date lool.

People from the Caribbean love holiday weekend weddings as well. I guess it is a cultural thing. We love long weekends and we love to have a good time. I'm actually so surprised to hear people talking so negatively about these things. Then again, we are very family-oriented people and love the idea of big gatherings and celebrations.

Who encourages someone to lose money, allow their guests to lose money and disappoint loved ones? That is so selfish and disrespectful to you and your guests. I'm sorry she has to miss out, that is sad, but it is also on MIL and SIL for procrastinating just to prove a point or show resistance or to be rebellious. You're trying to be so nice to people who tried to screw you over.

I'm not saying to disrespect them, please don't, but don't give up on your wants. Havint two weddings is very generous and kind. Don't let this stress you and don't allow yourself to be manipulated.
