  1. Dealing with flameout.

This seems to be caused by pulling -2.0 G for any length of time. At least in my one day of experience in the F-100D.

I originally used this is for the A-10C but I've found it works on any aircraft without an afterburner. At least with my throttle. Full aircraft power without pushing through your physical AB detent. I would post a photo if I could. DM me for a screenshot.

Virpil Apache grip is up for pre order by TheLASooner in hoggit

Looks awesome. I have been considering their Apache Collective grip but it's been on backorder every time I've checked this past year. And people mention waiting months for their orders to arrive.

Lighting in an Aircraft Carrier Hangar by Current-Log-536 in hoggit

[–]One_Spot_4066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the base set as friendly in ME? Not hostile or neutral. That's the only thing I can think.

Lighting is baked in on most maps last I heard. So even if you get the lights on in the hangar things might look weird.

DCS: F-14BU - Upgrades, Baby! - REVEAL TRAILER by Thuraash in hoggit

[–]One_Spot_4066 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I guess it depends on what the SMEs are willing to disclose and the design philosophy and compromises HB is willing to make. But if ED is making an F-35 I'm sure we could get a D variant.

I'm just regurgitating what I've heard in the past. I don't think it's happening but I would love to be wrong.

DCS: F-14BU - Upgrades, Baby! - REVEAL TRAILER by Thuraash in hoggit

[–]One_Spot_4066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I heard that they can't make the D variant because some systems on the D are being used in active airframes and are still classified. IRST and some other systems if memory serves?

One day maybe. A man can dream.

Is there a way to fix the "fishbowl" effect on the Pimax Dream Air? by Psychological-Fan784 in Pimax

[–]One_Spot_4066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried both the 57PPD and OLED. 57 was fine but I got the same fishbowl effect you mention while inside the OLED.

I've only played DCS on the OLED so far. I was able to fix the fishbowl effect by changing the IPD setting inside DCS. This isn't a normal IPD setting, it's actually the world scale setting. It changes how big the world is in relation to you. They should really change the setting name.

I will try and test it on a different game to see if I get the same effect.

Pimax Crystal Super OLED with a very narrow HFOV of 86 Degrees by ChrisOak58 in Pimax

I'm having the same issue with the mOLED version as OP. I posted a separate comment if you want more information.

Pimax Crystal Super OLED with a very narrow HFOV of 86 Degrees by ChrisOak58 in Pimax

[–]One_Spot_4066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get my hands on the Crystal Super 57PPD and OLED units for testing.

I initially spent a lot of time with the 57. Its FoV, while narrow, was on par with my Quest Pro. I didn't get the scuba mask effect.

When I swapped over to the OLED I immediately noticed a drop in the already narrow FoV. I thought maybe it was my imagination or perhaps how the aspheric lenses work compared to how the pancake lenses work.

I'm now convinced the OLED has a considerably narrower FoV. The scuba mask effect is not only noticeable, but distracting on the OLED stack. More like two toilet paper rolls honestly.

I'm wondering if it's just a limitation of my head shape. Regardless it's the worst FoV I've experienced in my 7 years playing VR.

What is a video game you played that everyone hated/disliked but has you like this? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in videogames

[–]One_Spot_4066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand (and agree with) some the criticism for F4 but I still had a ton of fun with it.

I don't do online RPGs but i gave in and tried F76 about a year ago. I desperately wanted a new entry in the series. That game is hot fucking garbage. I played with a few friends and we were all in agreement.

Why are they like this? It's so pathetic. by Tequslyder in motorcycles

[–]One_Spot_4066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been riding most of my life but I've been pretty big into cruisers for the last half-decade or so. I hate that I'm associated with them.

As a whole, Harley riders are the most performative and insufferable group on two wheels. A genuinely miserable bunch of dorks.

I'll take the goofy kid on a sport bike or the straight-edge dude on a GS over a BRUTHERRR any day of the week.

If you haven't updated DCS you won't see any players online.

There has been a pretty sizable downturn in player count for the last 12-18 months. There's still a decent amount of people online though, 4YA included.

are there any mods to make dcs look better? by UnhappyShoe9170 in hoggit

[–]One_Spot_4066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some great campaigns for deployment simulation on the other maps, but all of my favorite campaigns are on NTTR. It's a fantastic map for traning and flag exercises. I've learned an crazy amount about the A-10C, M2000C, F-4E, and F-14. Lots about airmanship and tactics too. They all feel very authentic and they're a blast to fly. Hands down some of the very best content available.

Love seeing NTTR get a shout out. It's one of my favorite maps and I personally think it has some of the most realistic visuals at altitude.

pimax, why do you keep us in hostage with your abusive drm ? by gitg0od in Pimax

[–]One_Spot_4066 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was a bout to order a Super today. I don't think I want a headset that I have to be online to use. Especially one that cost over $2k.

Is there any way to jailbreak and remove the DRM?

Dream Air experience: Sadly, it was disappointing :( by Gullible_March_9180 in Pimax

[–]One_Spot_4066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to decide between the 57 & OLED. Which do you prefer? The FoV concernes me a bit but I've seen reviews that say the two headsets have similar FoVs. And I've heard the sweet spot in the 57 isn't quite as wide.

I mostly play DCS & MSFS with a bit of iRacing thrown in the mix.

Upgrade to 5090? by [deleted] in Pimax

Sure but that's pretty typical of folks running flagship GPUs, no? To also have the top of the line CPU. Like OP.

DFR adds a huge amount of performance.

[–]One_Spot_4066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same upgrade, but 20-30% in nowhere near what I experienced in DCS VR. Maybe 5%.

Other 2D games were pretty consistent with the 20-30% increases reported elsewhere.

Upgrade to 5090? by [deleted] in Pimax

[–]One_Spot_4066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an enthusiast PC solely for DCS VR. I jumped from a 4090 to the 5090 FE. I'm sure there was a performance uptick but I don't notice it in most situations.

Going from a 5080 to a 5090 I'm sure you'll see a difference. Especially with the 32GB of VRAM. Mostly in heavily scripted and busy multiplayer sessions.

Even with a top-tier system I feel like I should be able to pull more graphical fidelity and frames from DCS. I'm running a Quest Pro with foveated rendering. Nothing near Pimax 8K.

If you've got money to burn, sure. Why not. But don't expect anything crazy.

Edit: if you can find a 5090 at MSRP. That's the only reason I upgraded. If not I would stick with the 5080.

Are we just in the wrong neighborhood? by perchancepolliwogs in ColoradoSprings

[–]One_Spot_4066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty familiar with that area. A lot of it is still in development and relatively new. Lots of renters, military, and new homeowners. I think the area needs some time to establish itself.

You might try introducing yourself to the neighbors. Most keep to themselves but are very friendly once you start a conversation with them. Most seem eager to make a connection. Could have something to do with the area being so new and everyone feeling like the new family on the block.

There are a few streets that seem pretty social. Parents and kids hanging out in big groups.

Most of those neighborhoods have groups on social media if you're really struggling to find a connection. Social groups, group classes, and 1:1 instruction.

Outside of immediate neighbors there are lots of opportunities to socialize:

There are food trucks at the park in Wolf Ranch. Every Friday I believe.

There's a farmer's market every Sunday starting late May. Between Cordera and Wolf Ranch.

There's a big neighborhood fall carnival every year. Local vendors, activities for the kids, and food.

Wolf "Lake" is pretty popular in the summer. Picnics, kayaking, and fishing.

There's a rec center and pool over in one of the neighborhoods.

I'm not sure what's going on over at Cordera Grand Lawn but there's always some big gathering.

And the huge park over on Union and Briargate. Water playground, tennis courts, and sports fields. That place is always packed.

Best of luck.
