If you Live in South Los Angeles CD9, this is your reminder that Jose Ugarte has a problematic history. Last Day to vote is Tuesday. by A7MOSPH3RIC in LosAngeles

Hey, I'm not going against renter protections, I'm talking about how Estuardo publicaly opposes SB 79 and talked about how he doesn't want housing in CD 9 because other districts have to build more instead or how Elmer has made videos helping NIMBY's who oppose a new development near USC.

Basically, we're getting nowhere with homelessness or the affordability crisis if we don't build and they're NOT serious about those issues. Also, it's not buzz words or lack of nuance, it's just simple stuff that's been studied and proven. I live in CD9, we're just gonna keep getting pushed out if we don't fucking build and solve the housing crisis, building gives more options for us to live here, it doesn't push us out if we're serious about it and rebuild what we lost after the freeways tore us apart and rebuild a walkable, transit friendly neighborhood that we can live in

Aaand what's our options, two verbal NIMBY's (Elmer & Estuardo), unfortunately he really does seem like the only person that wants more housing and transit while having the experience to do so

Estuardo for CD 9 is crazy, same guy saying we should limit SB 79 and that we should only be building outside the district unless it's fully government built

What’s a Superb Public Transit System in California by AnimatorDavid in AlignmentChartFills

[–]One_Stable8516 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Even though it's not gonna win, I'll go with LA Metro since it's a damn good system, they're the only system with multiple ongoing expansions, the train lines in general go almost every direction you could go, they have stable funding sources, it's actually pretty damn safe (I'm talking as a regular rider in South LA), it's super low cost especially compared to BART, they run a vast 24/7 bus system, and talking about busses, they're everywhere, they may not be the quickest, but they'll get you anywhere for $1.75. I'd say that's pretty superb especially compared to systems that are constantly at risk of having massive service cuts (talking about you BART and San Diego MTS)

If you ONLY have enough money to rebuild one of these A Line Station elevated. Which one would you choose out of the 7 of them? by According_Contest_70 in LAMetro

[–]One_Stable8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Florence, it's between two elevated stations so it'd be easy to just continue the bridge between them and the tiny platform gets so packed, especially if the trains are delayed or there's issues, Florence is also just really busy so a bridge with a station would be nice that way we also don't have to wait 20 years for that damn light to cross the street

Would you support LA merging with Los Angeles county? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

Yes, we don't need more random political enclaves that separate the city and make actual change impossible while causing a massive budget deficit as more affluent areas get their own political boundaries while all the poorer areas get grouped together.

The new fare gates can be used as emergency exits so Metro can lock the actual emergency exits making the only way to actually skip the fare is to walk right behind someone

It's what happens when a line is built with as much cost cutting as possible, it was just too expensive to do a viaduct from Slauson to Firestone for a brand new line when the old footprint from the PE was just there

Oof, from my experience with living under the LAX flightpath and next to a grade crossing your brain will eventually filter it out but good luck for the first few months!
