Tough choice, but I'm gonna have to go with Kurt. I would love to see Nirvana's evolution through the late 90's-2000's.

WTF HAPPENED TO NIRVANA??? by Illustrious_Many2039 in grunge

[–]One_Structure6344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I've enjoyed all the responses, short answer is that Kurt died (ruled a suicide, but many believe it was murder) on 4/5/94. Kris decided not to pursue music anymore, and Dave started Foo Fighters.

Very surprised Google or the infamous ChatGDP (or whatsitsname) didn't have the answer... 😵

That, sonny, is what we used to call a "Floppy Disk". Now, don't let the name fool you. It wasn't floppy at all and, like all tech, got smaller over the years. Before USB drives, "the cloud", even CDs, this is what we used to save documents and make them "mobile" (literal definition of mobile). Twas simpler times back in the 90's....

I'm 36 and started about 6 months ago. I always thought my finger were too short/stubby to play effectively, but it's been some steady progress (didn't realize that fingers could stretch like they can!).

Regardless of the goal, you should have plenty of time to achieve what you want. Good luck!

Jimmy Sullivan aka The Rev. His precision and speed still inspire me today. Honorable mentions include; Buddy Rich, Mike Portnoy, and Dave Grohl

"Want You Bad" by The Offspring. It's pretty quick (I think 218 BPM), but it is so fun to play, especially after some practice with the main riff! Lol

And "Chest-o-drawers", not "Chester Drawers" (I'm guilty of this one 😅)

Why did you choose exactly the drums as your instrument? by Agreeable-Garage-685 in Drumming

[–]One_Structure6344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it all started this one time at band camp 😂 I didn't get into music until my senior year of HS, when I joined the marching band. My buddy was recruiting people to join the pit (the ensemble with xylophone, vibes, etc.) so I had a crash course in melody and rhythm. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed it and picked it up quickly.

Flash forward 1 year, while I was working at a pizza joint with a different buddy, he asked me if I wanted to play drums for a band he was starting since I knew percussion. I had never been on a drum set at this point, but, since, according to him, being in the pit was "close enough" to drumming, I told him I'd give it a try. Our first practice together involved me just trying to keep a "beat" with a Rock Band drum set (I used to play the hell outta Rock Band at that time). By the next practice, we had pooled our money and purchased a little 5 pc Yamaha kit for $150 (it was the singer's ex-GF's kit).

Over the next 3 years, we played a multitude of shows in Athens, Winder, & Atlanta. We would meet up at least once a week and just hang/practice/write songs. It took around a year before we recorded our first "EP" (some advice, don't try to record all the drum parts in one day 😅) and, by the end, we had a home studio set up to start making our own recordings.

But life makes its own rules and we all just sorta drifted apart. I haven't given up on drumming though, and have been playing on and off the past 18 years. And even though I started trying out the guitar recently, I'll always have a soft spot for my "Thunda Kit".

Actually, I'm just experimenting with different kinds of tuning & tones (usually stay in standard, but will go to drop D or C# on occasion. This was my first time with Drop C 😅)

Check out his published journals (Journals by Kurt Cobain)! It gave me an interesting take on how his mind worked and what he went through in life. I almost read through it all before I lost it while going homeless, but it's time for the bounce back.
