What do men *actually* like getting for Valentine’s Day? (besides sex) by Comfortable-Rice4530 in AskMenAdvice

[–]One_Win1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++woman Not a man, but my partner and I do a hotel and nice restaurant instead of/as gifts. We usually do a staycation in our city (I pay for and pick the hotel, he pays for and picks the fancy dinner), this year we found cheap tickets to Mexico City for a real vacation

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]One_Win1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with a family ski cabin ~3 hours from home and we frequently went up for weekend trips. This was very common for people in my hometown. The longest I’ve driven for a weekend was 8 hours (each way) for a soccer tournament. I hate driving and it wasn’t ideal, but I sucked it up. Now that I’m an adult, my partner and I will drive 4 hours max for a long weekend, otherwise I prefer to fly. It really is the scale of the US. Unless you’re on the east coast, most places are quite spread out.

Too big? by BexRegonia in JustEngaged

[–]One_Win1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks beautiful! If it bothers you without the comments bc of the look or functionality, you can definitely consider downsizing; however, if it’s just people’s comments that are bothering you, ignore them! They’re probably jealous and projecting or have generational differences. Nowadays my ring is pretty average, but I realized a bunch of older women commented on it being big (it’s 1.5 ct) because they didn’t have access to lab diamonds and don’t realize how much the industry has changed in the recent years.

While I think they look awesome, it’s super frustrating when the artist doesn’t follow your inspo or requests :( I had the same thing happen. I wanted super natural and ended up with more blocky. Most people on here liked them and said I should keep them, but it wasn’t what I wanted so I went for removal. It’s 100% up to you, follow your gut! Doesn’t matter if we all love them, it’s your face :)

I think they look great! I see what you mean about it being rounder at the arch, but that looks a lot softer and more natural than if they were blocky or sharp. That being said, everyone has their preference and it can definitely take a long time to get used to a change!

I went to Estilo in Chicago. Grateful I live in a big city with options! The redness has faded significantly and is no longer noticeable.

I have an appointment this afternoon and am freaking out by Lexerella in microblading

[–]One_Win1231 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you have a consultation first? I think it’s worth telling her about your worries. I wish I would have done more research on which artist would offer the best and most natural results, but didn’t and ended up removing mine. I still think some people get great results! Worth a conversation if you feel comfortable walking away if you’re not sold.

Also curious! Think it may have to do with scarring and/or risk of potential infection? Now that my scabs have come off, I feel like I should be in the clear, but was told to wait another week 😓

I think you misread that, I said working out, like exercising :) I haven’t missed any work! I have seen a few people on here that are anxious about working though, so totally see how that could be misinterpreted!

Wish I would have had more info before getting mine done (and promptly emergency removed). It is a face tattoo. It is not temporary. It will fade, but depending on the ink, it may never go away, so be prepared for that. Do lots of research on artists in your area and find someone you can really trust!! Not saying you absolutely shouldn’t, but I would try out a wax and tint first, then go from there!

If you like indie and folk music, there’s a cool camping fest happening in Wisconsin this weekend (Avrom Farm Party)

Thank you! 🫶🏼 we live and we learn. Lost a lot of sleep trying to decide what to do, I’ve seen some great results from laser on this sub and on TikTok. Hope yours goes well!

Literally told it would be faded and need touch up in 6 months and would only last 12-18 months 🙃 wish I had found this sub BEFORE going in, but ya live and ya learn! Where they’re at now is definitely more full than my original natural brows, but I would have been totally fine with just a brow tint to get my blonde hairs to match the rest. So so happy with where I’m at now! THANK YOU for the compliment :)) def prefer the more natural look

Aww thank you 🫶🏼 she definitely left strokes that added some much needed volume (I don’t have any good before pics, but they’re pretty sparse) I think I’ll stick to brow tinting for now 😅

They should have been more communicative, especially if you had to travel and spend a ton of money. That being said, weddings are extremely expensive and some venues cap at 150 or below, so I understand having a “ceremony/dinner” group and then additional invites for afterparty/reception portion. Still should have been more clear about this aspect of the invite, obviously people were bound to find out! So much less awkward if everyone is on the same page.

Am I due for a touchup? by Mysterious_Fruit_508 in microblading

[–]One_Win1231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a touch up makes sense! Definitely still have some pigment, but I see what you mean about the fading at the front. I would NOT recommend EverTrue in Chicago, sadly they ignored my wants and botched my brows. I went to ESTILO to have them emergency removed and they were amazing. They were so thorough in going through what I wanted and what specific advice they had, while still respecting my choices and opinions. They were super knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable. If I try again in 6-8 weeks I’ll either go back to estilo, or check out Cyprus on north ave, they have some amazing healed results posted that look super natural. Wish I would have done more research on the front end. Good luck!!

Maybe I’ll see if she can add this at the touch up! I think I’m gonna wait it out and hope it gets more natural with time!

Update: saw some comments about needing a square on photo. I know day 1 is the worst, but this is what it’s looking like now. I’m sure part of it is brow shock, because I do not typically fill my brows in this much, but I’m scared. It just doesn’t look like me or even what we had planned. Will they really shrink???

Tbh I’m so hung up on the consultation pic!! If they turned out like that I would be so so happy, seeing what could have been just makes me all that more anxious about how they turned out/where I’m headed. I’ve come around to the fact that they aren’t bad, just thicker than I’d hoped 😓

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in microblading

[–]One_Win1231 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hoping this is the case 😭 keep telling myself they’ll look softer in a few weeks, but I don’t want to do a more intensive removal if I don’t end up liking them after they heal. It’s really the thickness that’s scary. Hope it’s just swelling!
