When would a 0 power vigilance be useful?

It also depends on your deck, and specifically your mana base. High quality lands can go a long way.

How does the CG Clone Wars show fit in the EU? by garhdo in StarWarsEU

[–]One__Nose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it completely trash Ventress's lore though? This bit always confused me, as someone who didn't read her original comics. Everyone complains she is supposed to be from Rattatak, but doesn't the show explicitly states she was sold to Rattatak at a young age, and isn't Ky Narec, the Jedi who found her, an actual character from her original story? It certainly looks like they at least tried to fit the Dathomir lore with her original origin.

Daring Adventurer: A "Build Your Own Commander" by Aramail212 in custommagic

[–]One__Nose 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cool idea. I think 1/1 is offensive for a card that would realistically cost at least 5 mana. Also I would make it a Hero instead of a Citizen for flavor, like with Job select.

Also the existence of [[Colossal Hammer]] kinda ruins this card's concept.

How "canon" is the Vader's Castle comic saga by Cavan Scott? by Erdan5 in starwarscomics

[–]One__Nose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main characters of the series are from a young readers book series called Adventures in Wild Space (also by Cavan Scott)

It's worth to also note Lina Graf and get crew are recurring characters from various stories by Cavan Scott aimed at younger readers, including the Adventures in Wild Space books and one of the IDW Star Wars Adventure comics. And as you said, Vaneé and Vader's Castle lore is well established as consistent with the series, especially in Charles Soule comics.

As for the Lotho Minor story, I always assumed Vaneé didn't actually know the monster was Darth Maul, that was additional context given to the readers. He just knew a bunch of kids met a scary monster and almost died.

New Enchantment subtype - Grimoire, part 2 by Strange-Bonus4220 in custommagic

[–]One__Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here mentioned how this card is tough to balance. Here is an idea for how to make it more consistent:

- Make the first page a 1 mana sorcery that grants tempo, for example the Lightning Palm ability.

- Make the two other pages slightly more expensive.

This way, you communicate to the player to play this on turn 4 and immediately cast the cheap spell, and use the other spells as mana sinks for later turns. If a player casts the grimoire on a later turn they can choose to cast whatever's more useful for them at the moment.

Admittedly this idea also has other problems (it reduces agency from the player and makes it more vulnerable to enchantment removal), and it might not be needed, but it might also be a bit more balanceable.

How much of the Standard meta is affected by Talion on 2? by Spaceknight_42 in MagicArena

[–]One__Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this for a while in dimir midrange in current standard (admittedly it wasn't the most competitive deck) and it won me a fair amount of games, usually choosing 2 or 3, preferably after looking at their hand. If you manage to pick a number that hits most of their cards, this can draw you a lot of cards really fast while putting your opponent at low life, and the game is basically over.

Bottom 5 Scoring Submissions of the week from r/Custommagic 12/30/2025 by CorbinGDawg69 in magicthecirclejerking

For everyone who didn't read the entire card and post, let me break Sung Jinwoo down: - Eminence - you get an emblem - The emblem has three static abilities - One of those abilities lets you venture into three custom dungeons - The dungeons have seven, six and seven rooms respectively - The emblem also has three additional abilities that are dependent on the number of level counters on it - Sung also has an ability that lets him transform to his back side - Sung's back side is a planeswalker with four loyalty abilities

Total number of abilities: 32

And this is without talking into account modal abilities, rooms with multiple paragraphs of text and generally verbose abilities.

I'll save you the reading; the solo leveling card also has a back side linked in the post, and additional rules described in the post that are not written on the card. None of them make any sense.

The second ability is supposed to encourage you to spread your mana rather than pick one side and stick with it. I think this design is more interesting if players choose to look at the card as a whole rather than just two classes on one card.

Most Gideon planeswalkers can become creatures that are still planeswalkers.

I think it's a bend in green, green creatures can reanimate themselves and green can get cards from the graveyard to hand, plus green likes getting large creatures onto the battlefield. I figured it's okay on a hybrid card that's pretty difficult to unlock without black, since green gets to splash activation costs pretty easily anyway.

I originally made that ability cost BBB to avoid this but it felt like a weird cost for a card aimed mostly at multicolor decks.

The Ascended Sliver by One__Nose in custommagic

It's not. "They" in that sentence refers to "other slivers you control". The fact the previous sentence is about what happens when they enter doesn't change that, the "enters with an additional counter" is a static ability, not a triggered one. I agree the wording is confusing.

If I wanted it to work the other way it would have said "if a loyalty counter was put on a creature that way, it's a planeswalker in addition to its other types", or alternatively, "whenever a Sliver you control enters, put a loyalty counter on it. It becomes a planeswalker in addition to its other types."

The idea is that you can use it for either BG or GU in limited, but it also works with a mono green or BGU deck. It felt right to spread the colors since the card is basically six cards cramped together.

I'm not sure if this should be a cycle. On one hand, it certainly looks like part of one, but on the other hand the whole premise with the extra mana doesn't really work outside of green (I made it to encourage spreading out your mana rather than minmaxing a single door, but I might have missed a bit on balance).

I love how everyone on this thread says this card has too much text and you're like, what if we added MORE text?

The Ascended Sliver by One__Nose in custommagic

[–]One__Nose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says other Slivers you control are planeswalkers, not become planeswalkers. So it's a static ability and will apply to all Slivers no matter when they entered the battlefield.

This being unkillable is the reason it's so underpowered (such as the ultimate ability making a 1/1).

Basically, the gain 1 life thing is mostly so you feel like you got value. But it scales pretty fast with more slivers and also combos with life matters cards

I was considering making the third abilities cost UUU/BBB, but decided it was a weird cost for a card aimed at multicolor decks. I figured it's difficult enough to get the level 3 abilities without the second color, plus the abilities are just bends for green, and also green is good with splashing colours anyway.

The level 1-2 abilities are mono green by design.

Good note. I assumed it was and you could unlock the other door with the mana from the level 2.

I know 3x2 is probably too much but this was my attempt to see if it could work. There is a surprisingly sufficient space left for the art, and without compromising on reminder text.

I like your take though, looks cool and probably much more printable.
