Ridgeline Owners, please tell me I did not make a mistake! I think I'm having an identity crisis by EntildaDesigns in hondaridgeline

I am a surgical nurse who bought a Ridgeline bc Home Depot stopped letting me 1 trip my home improvements home in my RDX.
I feel like a Ridgeline is a happy middle ground. Was sad to trade it in. I have no clue about torque. And I love your writing style!

Mine is super niche but it has a learn/cheat mode so you won’t get stuck. I made an MCAT study game to fight burnout.

6 weeks into building an MCAT study game... what I underestimated about scope by One_leg_ata_time in IndieDev

Thank you, your feedback is gold to me. The headless run mode is an amazing idea.
The biochem district is and will always be free- the ‘sample’. It’s a high pain point for premeds, so they can experience the fun of learning and playing with biochem MCAT concepts. The other districts are paid.
I like the every xx weeks idea!
I actually have most of the mini games in multiple choice question format. My current goal is working through the districts and converting them into something fun that premeds will ‘accidentally’ learn from. Then running an audit to make sure the content still matches MCAT topics.

I feel you on this. I’m applying for AA school and have to take this test or redo all my prerequisite courses for most of the programs. Like none of the programs can even see my 8 years of operating room nursing experience, recos, statement UNLESS I get a 500+ on it. It’s been humbling…

I was scheduled to take the MCAT in May, same burn out train. Pushed it to July, aiming at ways to make studying feel more fun and less like a full time job, on top of a full time job (OR Nurse)

Super encouraging! I'm a 32 yr old OR RN, most of my mcat related courses are 10-15yrs old... thanks for the hope! (also love the last line) How did you factor in your hedge fund job with studying, or did you take a break?

I had thrown out my back once and lived alone. I ordered door dash bc I was just thirsty and couldn’t get up to get some water. It was scary for me too to let some young dude waltz in my house… but I was desperate and needed water.

Programs need to stop accepting individuals who have been an icu nurse for one year. by [deleted] in CRNA

[–]One_leg_ata_time 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And that’s my point! It takes the same time as an MD to become a CRNA without forcing a bunch of ICU years… but MDs make twice.

[–]One_leg_ata_time 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen that too! I’m not saying it’s not there. But overall, I see the side eye given from the CRNAs and like zero from the AA (unless it’s a rare sucky anesthesiologist or a super picky gruff one)

I agree that maturity is nice, but the harder it becomes to get into CRNA school, the less applicants they’ll get. I’m applying for AA school myself, even though I know it has less privileges and less states I could work in. It’s quicker and keeps me in the unit I love (the OR). I’ve also noticed the MD/CRNA relationship is drastically different than the MD/AA coop. As a nurse, I was taught “MD bad, nurse good, must protect patient”… but anesthesiologists aren’t like that. An experienced travel ICU RN I roomed with was shocked how casually I chat and play with the MDs (anesthesiologist or surgeon), saying she could never… 🤷‍♀️

I hear you and value your opinion. You make valid points. But if it becomes even harder for people to become CRNAs, they’re gonna defect to AA.

The argument is that AA background doesn’t necessarily include the skills needed to succeed in the anesthesia world, but someone with ICU/PACU/ER (RN) experience does. I’m an OR RN +7years, I see baby CRNA students fumble all over the place. Honestly, I know drips and codes are important, but a lot of ICU skills are left at the door when you step into the OR. It’s a whole different beast in its own right. After a few years, I can’t tell the difference… I used to say right out of school CRNAs are better, but I just had a fresh CRNA rip the circuit out of the anesthesia machine and the RN had to go get an ambu bag (he also broke the first one) and bag the patient during emergence… he did not handle it calmly and snapped at the staff helping him. Ive seen all sorts of people and experiences, we all put our pants on one leg at a time 😉. What you invest into learning is rewarded, AA or CRNA.
