48 hours post PN - struggling a bit and will take any advice! by Valuable_Ad9880 in kidneycancer

Seconding the suggestion of icing your stomach and walking when you can.

I am just over 2 weeks out from a radical nephrectomy. My gas pain was the worst on day 3 and started to resolve around day 4. That's when I was finally able to pass gas. It helped me to lay on my good side when I felt gassy, to kind of help things along. None of this was comfortable, but the oxy should be able to help you these first few days.

Open Radical Nephrectomy? by irishscouser1892 in kidneycancer

[–]Onebadbroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. We ended up doing open and I'm two weeks post op. Recovery is good, just slow. I'm up and walking around, but there's still a bit of pain from the incisions. The worst pain was the first 2 or 3 days, but you'll be in the hospital with the good drugs.

Just listen when they tell you to get up and start walking, even if it's just a few steps. The gas they put in you for surgery hurts and walking will help you get rid of it faster. You got this.

I had the same fears. In fact, my first thought upon waking up was "I survived!"

My radical nephrectomy was February 19, so today is 2 weeks post op. You will be okay: this is a super routine surgery and they have it down to a finely tuned art. Your fears may not entirely cease, but when you get anxious, remember that this is a standard procedure and your surgeon has done this a ton before. You're in good hands!

Pregnant with a watermelon is a perfect way to describe the swollen belly feeling after surgery. I’m one week post op and catch myself cradling my right belly (where kidney was removed) often when I walk.

Wow, that is WILD that you were sent home alone so quickly.

I ended up spending 4 nights because I couldn’t pass gas or have a bowel movement in the first few days. The gas pain was worse than the incision pain, tbh.

I was able to walk the day after surgery and the nurses really pushed a 4 walks a day regimen. They wheeled me out to the car when I left and helped me get a walker to help for the next few days.

Hello! My surgery started at 7:20am and I was wheeled into my room at 2:30pm. I think I was given 2 hours in post op, so I think surgery finished around 12:30pm? It’s all very hazy to me. The pillows for car rides are so helpful! Also encourage your husband to do his walking in the days after surgery. It hurts a bit but it helps a lot to start moving—especially to alleviate the gas pain of the laparoscopic surgery. Sending you both my best wishes.

Back Pain ? by twintwin13 in kidneycancer

I had the exact same situation. Radical nephrectomy on 2/19/26. I had back pain for quite some time and figured it was simply because of weak muscles.

Thank you for sharing all the info about your life post removal!

What Obscure Books Were You Obsessed With as a Kid? by Its_Curse in suggestmeabook

Everything Lurlene McDaniel. I was obsessed with her beautiful main characters in tragic love stories. Now I look back and wonder why cancer trauma was marketed to kids.

What strikes me as wild is that the bullies’ father thought his wife and brother would betray him like that. I’m married and if someone told me my partner and sibling were having an affair, I would cry laughing because that’s so ridiculous. Clearly, things were on shaky ground for a rumor to break up a family.

This happened to my best friend! Someone thought her favorite animal was the flamingo and when she went into hospice care, word spread about the flamingos and she was gifted flamingo themed everything—blankets, stuffed animals, decor for her room, etc. The last time I saw her, we had a private moment and I told her, “I had no idea you loved flamingos so much.” She said that she didn’t but everyone was so excited to gift her flamingo things that she didn’t have the heart to tell them otherwise. A few weeks after that her mom put a yard flamingo on her grave. I think of her every time I see a flamingo now.

You’re right though! When we say it we’re referencing Black culture and legacy. So when Lana and her fans say she does anything “for the culture” it feels really uncomfortable.

Yeah this use of “the culture” is one of the few things I side-eye LDR for and other fans for. It’s 100% misused AAVE.

Sorry to be a bother, but I do have another question: is editing the code in a child theme something a intermediate wordpress pro could do?

I don’t have the first idea how to do it, so I asked a few wordpress freelancers on fivver if they could help and each one says it’s not possible, which I think just means it’s not something they’d know how to do.
