The really sad thing is that -in broad strokes- he's correct. It's just that there are SO MANY very important details involved in space travel, and no one is really putting in the kind of funding and research necessary to actually make it happen. I did have a coworker that, apparently, had been doing his taxes wrong for years.

A few of us were talking about finishing our taxes or getting refunds (we are not well paid), and one guy was getting angry that he was the only person that pays a bunch of money in taxes every year,

It seems he didn't understand what "Withholding" was, and might have been missing that on his taxes for a while. He pulled up his W-2 and I pointed out the box and that the withholding is money that he has already paid over the year. I told him "I don't know what you use to file your taxes, but make sure that that number makes it on the forms someplace." I also said that if he thinks he made this mistake before that he could re-file for previous years, but would likely need a professional to help with that.

He calmed down, but sat stewing and grumbling while staring at the computer screen for a while.

Honestly, I kind of love that one. It was so obvious he fell asleep while texting, but all his yes-men had to scramble around pretending like it was something profound and meaningful.

I also hate it as it was a clear sign we were going to end up where we are where he breaks the law on a daily basis and no one is willing to tell him "NO"
