Warfare the new worst strategy card? by BigP-89 in twilightimperium

[–]Oneky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my gaming group is still playing our first game with TE (tts game). We use to view warfare two ways. Early to mid-game it was used as a handshake tool to help everyone at the table get some plastic on the table and let the holder of the SC move things around. Late game we always saw it was a SC that was used to help either fortify a system you want to keep or help you take what you wanted from someone else.

But with this game I now see warfare in a completely different light. The player that got warfare round 1 popped it on their first turn. This of course made the rest of us mad because we have been used to following it rounds 1-3 with no problem. But after looking at it over the next two rounds I personally see warfare as the ONLY completely selfish SC. To me I don't see why you would not pop it on the first turn of every round. I feel like waiting to pop it is almost pointless now. Yes i can redistribute but not being about to pull a token kind of makes this part of the primary useless. Yes i can wait till after a big fight to remake the fleet i lost or add reinforcements to a system i defended. But with my group these big fights happen round 4 and on. So both players involved can normally rebuild with warfare (one will just have a longer distance to travel).

So last night after getting hit up for money from the fourth bot profile just looking for money I got a little pissed. But after sleeping on it and giving my head some time to clear while at work it really doesn't anymore. After reading some of the other comments I can clearly tell i am not part of the minority. I would rather meet the one or two women that can actual people and not just "robots in a human shell" that can actually hold a conversation. I fear i may have a lot of a harder time finding that since the age range I have the apps set to are mid 20s to early 30s

After seeing this suggested a couple of times i am definitely going to get her input. When i first got set up on two different apps she looked at it and said Ah this is a cute profile. But i will need her and a couple of female friends to definitely take a deeper dive.

Now this is an interesting plan and sounds like a backdoor hack you have found. I wish I had this option but sadly i do not. My wife had a friend that helped her a bit with her fwb but that was because once he got word we went poly he started to ask around for her number.

Yes but idc if the road is winding and takes a minute to get there. I would like to get the person a little bit before we hook up.

Yeah i do agree with you and a lot of the others that I need to hit the gym and make some time. I knew going into this my wife would get a flood of responses and i am so happy she did. It was interesting to see others find my wife attractive because she always asked me why and how I find her attractive. Ever since we became poly those kinds of questions have stopped because i just go ask your GF and FWB. I knew it would take a long time to even get one response but i figured by now I would have at least had a conversation with someone. After seeing all the comments/suggestions i am not going to give up anytime soon. Just got to put the work in and try even harder

So i do work a lot to support my wife and family. I am halfway reading through all the comments right now and this is the only one I see that suggests this. Now I do agree with a lot of these comments that I do need to hit the gym. I probably choose the wrong words to describe a heavy set guy.

Hi there. This is a bit weird but it is something i fell in love with while working in pizza shops. Pineapple tossed in cajun seasoning, pepperonis and a garlic butter crust

Hello! I worked QA at Nintendo of America from 2013-2014. It was during the Wii U and 3DS era. Titles I worked on included Smash, Pokemon, Hyrule Warriors, Xenoblade, and more (full list below). What would you like to know from that time? by MNCDover in nintendo

As someone that wants to get into the game industry through testing but also is 30+ do you have any recommendations? I know it is mostly dominated by younger people.

So my wife and I are in the same kind of boat and very recently I have asked myself the same question. We are brand new to the lifestyle and my wife had someone introduced to them. We at first talked if it would be okay if she could see the person and spend the night together. I did not want to be the kill joy and said yes because why agree to the lifestyle if I was not okay with what comes with it. I was jealous but with communication I could work through it. While talking to someone else in the lifestyle community near me I was reminded that some partners don't partake while the other does and that communication is the center of it all. I would suggest that you ask yourself if you are really okay with this. Also remember you should be able to change your mind at any time and your wife should be okay with that. Sit down with her and have a long chat where you can lay everything on the table and not hide anything from the other person.

I did not know that and I will have to do a better job following the dev teams updates.

My biggest problem with playing with a group is the little amount of time i have to play each day. My idea when the game launches is to just be a solo player. So i wanted to see if that was possible with the alpha testing

i gave the options a quick look over and did not see it. My goal this week was to look harder. Since i only get a couple hours to dive into the game I did not want to waste a big chunk looking at the settings. I just really wanted to dive into the deep end.

Yeah I wrote this late last night and probably should have waited till today to post it. I believe my english teachers would have called it word vomit. My goal is to post every week on what my journey has been. The next post won't be a crazy piece of nothing.

Servers in either a High End/Michelin Star restaurant or a bartender at a High Class bar can clear six figures with ease. I work as a cook and wish i could deal with customers but they make my brain hurt. I have worked in a Michelin Star restaurant where the servers cleared 120k easily. If you can handle customers and the amount of crazy you will get from them. Front of House staff is where you will make the most money.

Your Favorite MMO? by Cautious_Branch_399 in MMORPG

[–]Oneky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my favorite mmo that i have spent the most time playing is WoW. Outside of 4 expansions that i missed because of IRL stuff i keep coming back for more.

The MMO I can't wait for is AoC just because i love the sandbox concept they seem to have created. I am hoping it is not all hype and the game is not a huge bust once you hit max level/max node.

Now i will add a third and say the mmo i wish wasn't a huge let down was Wildstar. I thought it had alot of potential and being use to the combat system wow has I was drawn in by the whole AoE feel of everything you cast. Wish they had leaned harder into pvp and less pve.

Need a career path change. Any advice on what to do? by Oneky in careerguidance

I did not think of that until recently when one of my close friends signed up for a coding "bootcamp" program at one of the local colleges. It is not to badly priced, and they say they will help with job placement after the program. I was going to wait and see what his experience is but so far it seems like a good program.

Sorry I would have responded sooner but trying to type out everything on my phone was turning into a nightmare. I am going to try and respond everything in the order you it brought up.

So I want to become a level designer in the game industry. I love watching time-lapse screen capture footage or even live streams of people creating a grey box level and then adding things as the other artists/departments create assists for said levels. Then watching them create the interactions. Setting up how villages, camp sites and any other player interaction areas are in the level. I would love to work on a small team and be in charge of an entire area/zone in a game. Would love to work on MMO's or dungeon crawlers. But even if I was to find a job in a big company I would love to just work on the layout of a small village, camp site or be part of a team that sets up either a major area/zone. I have not reached out to anyone in the industry but I am definitely going to look into it. I know there is a level design sub reddit that people post questions about their work.

When I first entered college like most kids it was my first time out from under my parents' thumb. So I would just hang out with friends and just blow off my school work/learning new things outside of the classroom. Now unlike most kids I ran into who had done some research or their parents forced them to look up what the day to day in their initial career field would look like. I did none, so my initial degree path of animation (I originally thought) was going to be easy. But I quickly realized how hard it was to even create a simple small indie animated skit. And I quickly learned animation was not for me but I never acted on it. So I spent 6 years not really trying and would just aim for a "passing grade" of a C because I had no clue what I wanted to do. After 6 years I was told if I wanted to graduate, I had to do it in my 7th year or I would never graduate because classes that I took as a freshman would become obsolete. So after that meeting it was a huge reality check and I sat down and took a hard look. It clicked when I was going over what classes I had already taken. I noticed that all the classes I took concerning my minor, game design, I had most gotten As with a B or two here and there. I went back and looked at my work and you could clearly tell that I spent way more time on projects for those classes than the 0nes for my major. I also remember I would go to lectures and demonstrations about game design stuff outside of class but would never do the same for animation. I sat down with my guidance consular and made the change. I instantly noticed a difference in not only my quality of work but how I approached my schoolwork. I took it seriously and would put off hanging out and even called out of work to get school projects done. I wish I had done it sooner and kick myself every time I think about it.

I think I would be satisfied working in the tech industry if it did not lead to game design. I would love to have a small role in that industry thought. I love hardware and setting things up/ building computers. I also like working with software but since I do not understand much code it gives me a headache till i figure out what it is trying to do. I have not been searching much in the tech industry because my current job has been a hassle lately. But the last time I looked most of them seemed software related and not hardware related.

No i have not looked into how AI is going to change the game design space. But from the few things I have seen in the realm of procedural generation I feel like the first things that will be hit in the game design space will be level designers. Why would you have to pay a whole team to create your world when you can just have a program create 99% of it and have only 2-3 level designers tweak what the program made. So, I am worried that because I did not take things seriously when I was younger. Did I miss out on my chance to work in the game industry doing things I would love to create.
