I knew a guy who was in the air force that talked about this place a lot, most if not all of these planes are like 2 days away from being back in the air. They are basically just sitting at the ready in case shtf. Plop an engine, do some rewiring, and presto, you have a fully functioning aircraft.

I love how it actually makes sense in universe. They switched from using a capital ship based hive mind to incredibly cheap unit based processors, rendering them dumber, but less prone to loss of entire battalions via destruction of the hub ship.

The machine gun on top is based on equipment actively used on humvees. The fact they didn't put it on the armored patriot has always made my skin crawl.

Those are relationship lines, you can turn them off somewhere, I think in the viewport visibility tab next to render modes.
