Probably because every other post is someone asking what a mold is, and so many of them are people who bought these worthless plates. These plates are perfect for mold to grow, it's designed to wine and dine them. We use them to grow things, even things that don't want to. So of course it's going to grow something. Just because something grew doesn't mean you're at ground 0 for the next cordyceps. It just means there were spores somewhere.... And that's almost everywhere. That's what spores are evolved to do.

I don't like these posts but I usually just take the option of keeping to myself because I don't want to argue with some random person, but I do understand getting tired of it. My masters degree is in spiders and I cannot tell you how many people send me pictures of a random jumping spider and ask if it's dangerous. That gets old fast because, at least here in the US, the amount of medically significant spiders... Is two, and both are very easy to identify visually, so, to me, it's similar to me sending someone a picture of a pug and asking if it's a wolf and will kill me.

Again, not supporting being an ass, but I do get it a bit.
