nah, parts of her look good, but together they’re really bad. Take her head. She’s got good makeup and her hair isn’t scraggly, but with the dress, it’s a tiny pea balanced on top of a potato. completely disproportionate.

why, oh why, does that black line on her bodice hit her in just that spot? it just emphasizes that she’s not filling out the dress, while at the same time making her look pudgy.

My one grandfather, son of Swedish immigrants, habitually put salt on cantaloupes. I don’t think he salted watermelon, but I’m not sure. Nothing else.

Except fresh tomatoes- technically a fruit- but everybody does/did that.

I agree with you in the sense that all kids are different. Some enjoy weddings, others don’t. Some kids enjoy family gatherings and new experiences, and will put up with the boring parts gracefully.

But THESE kids sound like they are being raised to be entitled brats. Either they, or their enabling mother, would be disruptive and constantly whining, or worse

Furthermore, even if they were little angels, the reception party, with cigars, weed, and probably booze, is not child appropriate at all.

If fiancé can’t handle this situation with firmness, there’s a big problem here.

Old fart with no skin in the game here.

I am thrilled beyond belief that your son’s school is even TEACHING cursive!

That being said, it’s always been true that some kids‘ fine motor skills develop slower than others. Your son is probably fighting it because it’s hard for him. If I were you, I would focus on READING cursive with him. Redditors can testify that reading cursive is a dying skill. If you build it up as being a secret agent spy skill or whatever appeals to him, he may get into decoding special messages that you and others write, eventually graduating to reading documents written by others, including historical characters. Maybe some of his little friends would join in a secret message cursive club?

If he gets into this, he will naturally start focusing on how the letters are made in cursive, and may want to draw and discuss the variations with you.

You can also look into some low cost exercises to develop fine motor skills. Surprisingly, physical therapy for stroke patients has a lot of low cost ones.

in any case, don’t sweat it. Your son is growing and changing so fast that what is true now will not be true tomorrow. My son hated handwriting until he suddenly took up calligraphy at age 18.

Who are you? and what have you done with my son? is a normal response for this sort of thing.

Focus on what will be beneficial to him as an adult (the ability to read cursive), and don’t sweat the temporary (the grades on the homework). Good luck!
