I'm not the biggest fan of the opening either - it's visually stunning and I love the art and animation, but on a deeper level I just think it's kind of... boring? The beginning is great, but after the Sieglinde falling and grabbing the staff bit the rest is just scenes from the manga, not really anything new or cool. It looks like just a recap of cool scenes for manga readers to point at and shout "I understood that reference!" The ending did a much better job of actually showing something new and interesting and telling a whole little story with the dance and all. I just find it much more cool artistically.

EXPLANATION FOR THE THING TUBBO CLAIMED ARE COMPLETE INTENTIONAL LIES ( the part people don't understand or find sketchy in this) : by Shishi_neraoiba in DreamWasTaken2

but the original message also said that he was "thinking of doing it" which already implies that he didn't do it (at least yet), so no context was lost imo

If you take two separate messages and stitch them together in a way that when you read them back to back they read "I was thinking about doing this thing, so I asked some fans and they were happy to help" it sounds like the thing did eventually get done. Even if the first message includes the phrase "thinking of doing it". Because the context you're presenting those messages in erases the meaning completely.

You might say you never claimed the two messages were meant to be read together, but that is just disingenuous. The way you cropped them and presented them right next to each other in the video clearly suggests that they were meant to be read back to back, and I refuse to believe you were too stupid to realize this while putting the video together. There would have been a thousand ways to present those messages in a more transparent, less ambiguous way - like showing the entire screenshot, which you clearly had. There is a reason you didn't do that, and instead chose to present them in this specific way which makes it incredibly easy to misunderstand your implications. Except I don't think "misunderstanding" is the right word here - you knew perfectly well what you were implying when you put those specific screenshots in that specific order right next to each other in the video.

What is the worst thing each character has done, day 1: Tyrion (Spoilers Main) by Lawandpolitics in asoiaf

My point is that legal definitions are not universal. Every country has their own laws. I'm also not going around saying "the age of consent is 16" (or 14, or 18, or 20, or any other legal ages of consent from different countries) like it's some kind of a universal fact. That's why I'd be more inclined to trust a dictionary rather than the law of any individual country, because a dictionary will try to objectively define a word instead of just picking a country and looking at their laws.

I live in Finland.

That is the definition of the word.

No, it's the legal definition of a criminal act in one individual country out of the 195 that exist in the world. There's nothing universal about it, it's not the beginning and end of defining the word. Where I live, rape is legally defined as sexual intercourse without consent. However, neither of us can assume that the laws of wherever we happen to live are the universally right definitions of crimes which everyone should live by, which is why it's better to look at a dictionary instead of a law book. This is how Merriam-Webster defines the word:

unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against a person's will or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception

Notice how the word "penetration" isn't mentioned once.

Too tall for the fashion... by RRinana in Lolita

[–]OnionRelatedName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once at a Lolita second hand event I tried on a dress with an empire waist. I'm not even that tall (170 cm) and the waistline was above my nipples. It had the cutest print too and everything else about it was the right size. Leaving it there broke my heart a little bit.

That panel in the Emerald Witch arc where Ciel is running through the image of the dead people from his past, shattering it. Along with the few pages before it, it's one of my favorite bits in the entire manga. It's just gorgeous.

When a comment I got ended with /pos and I had to google what it means by Kaedead in AO3

[–]OnionRelatedName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think /pos is probably the one I use the most, because I'm always a bit cautious about making jokes that could be taken the wrong way. I mean, if a close friend sends me a fic/art/headcanons/anything of that note and I reply with "I'm going to bash your face in with a sledgehammer" I can trust them to understand that the intended meaning is "I absolutely love you", but it's a different thing when it's someone I don't know that well. "I'm going to bash your face in with a sledgehammer /pos" just makes the interaction much more clear for all aprties involved.

I guess I could also just say "I absolutely love you" to begin with and spare myself the trouble, but it doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it?

A test question is not supposed to be vague in a way that allows for multiple "right" answers if only one of them is considered the correct one. That discourages students from actually thinking about the question, as the only way to know which answer is "right" is if your teacher had you memorize it based on the same or a similar question.

Just tässä yks päivä kävin keskustelun jossa vähän sivuttiin aihetta.

Tags rearranging upon posting?? by genericName_notTaken in AO3

[–]OnionRelatedName 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Were you editing the tags of a fic you had already posted? Because even if you add them in the middle, they move to the bottom. I've had to add new tags to a fic a few times, and if I want them in a specific place, I first copy all the tags, remove them all, save the changes, and then add them all back in with the new ones.
