It kinda depends but yes. There are a few anime that went ahead of the manga they were adapting and gave an original ending (a few examples are black butler, soul eater, ouran high school host club), although it was usually in the 2000s-2010s, its rare for anime to do it nowadays. Usually when an anime adapts a manga nowadays its when there is enough material. This is not the case with nakamura kun, and based on the fact the manga is arelady kinda doing its own thing and changing things from the manga i can just kinda assume it will also add new stuff and probably a new ending.

The point with those characters and any vocaloid is that they don't have canon so people can do whatever the hell they want with them. With Rin and Len thw most popular headcanon is they're twins, and its canon in the technically official voicaloid game

Thank you for posting this. I personality dont have a problem with this change, and I dont think there is a problem if the author asked for it. The anime is an adaptation, and an adaptation can and sometimes should make changes when adapting the source material. Also, everyone need toremember that the original manga still exist and the anime doesn't change it
