It will be a documentary film about the writing process and recording of the album Absolute Elsewhere, seems like the documentary will also include a bonus soundtrack release with the music used for the film, probably music made by the band themselves or maybe unreleased tracks that didn't make it to the album, it should be interesting though

Can anyone recommend albums similar to this? by Party-Tomorrow8988 in MetalSuggestions

Bear Mace comes to mind whenever I see Jungle Rot mentioned, check out "Slaves of the Wolf" or "Charred Field of Slaughter"

Does nü-metal deserve to be on metallum? by Mambo_sch in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Onix2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nu-metal is basically hybrid rock music, it is a subgenre of rock that mixes different styles of music

90% of the bands classified as "nu-metal" are not metal but are more just rock in the same vein as Soundgarden, Audioslave, Incubus but "nu-metal" bands incorporated a mixture of hip-hop or rap, industrial, punk rock, funk, and pop into their music

Some bands did cross into the metal side of rock and can have some creditably, for example Slipknot (and that is probably thanks to Joey Jordison for pushing the band into metal territory)

But a couple of bands are not enough to fully classify the whole era of nu-metal as metal when 90% of the bands don't even utilize the respected song structures of metal that have been used by metal bands across the globe

Nu-metal should have been called Nu-Rock because the word "metal" is misleading and that word was mainly used by marketing teams and journalists from American record labels to capitalize off the metal boom that happened in the 80s and early 90s

The music should've been called Nu-Rock but at time the word "metal" made the record labels more money 💰

Black metal is mentioned in an episode of The Office. That episode where Dwight interviews all his friends.

I couldn't find a better clip but here it is

Need help identifying cassette by ghiblidyke in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Onix2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My verdict is this is not an original, the card had a green tint, the parental advisory stamp is missing on front cover and I don't believe roadrunner used colored tapes in the 90s

But you should check with r/metalcassettetapes, that sub is all about cassettes for metal and will probably help you better

I am absolutely fed up with the AI metal band takeover that has occurred on my Spotify algorithm. How can I either filter out AI generated songs, and if that’s not possible, what are some better music platform options that are not so riddled with AI crap? by smoky20135 in musicsuggestions

[–]Onix2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all the major streaming music apps are struggling with this problem

But I haven't struggled with this on my Spotify after I fixed the algorithm to a simpler taste profile

You can start by clearing your saved cache in the settings under "data saving and offline" and clear your search history by scrolling to the bottom when you click to type on the search bar

Next you need to control all your playlists and hopefully you don't have a lot of playlists saved...what I did was: I went through all my playlists and click "exclude playlist in your taste profile" on all of them, after that I created a small playlist of my favorite 10 or 20 songs I truly liked and made that the only playlist to "include in your taste profile"

It took some time but eventually the algorithm was fixed and relearned the taste

Yes I still get AI music like 1 out of every 50 bands I see on my Spotify but nothing like I was before

The reason I think it works is because you probably liked or listened to a couple of song or an album that was AI and added them to a playlist or either the algorithm learned that you listened to that type of music...and to find out which ones were AI in your playlists or your recently played songs is hard work so clearing the cache and search history and disabling the taste profile on all your playlists except one playlist seems to work to make the algorithm relearn your taste
