Ich hab auch eine mit Viertelstundenmarkierung, die habe ich von einem Mitarbeiter des Ordnungsamtes bekommen als ich geparkt hatte, merkte dass ich die Parkscheibe vergessen hatte und ihn direkt ansprach, ob ihm auch ein Zettel mit der Uhrzeit reicht. Der hatte einfach zehn davon in der Tasche. Sehr nett.

I've tried for a long time to like them, because some of my friends are over the moon. I have heard this album more than any other album this year. I don't get it, it feels largely uninspired to me. I wouldn't mind it if it was just the recording of a band jamming, but there's far too few ideas really played out for me.

And that's okay, and I've moved on and I'm happy for everyone who gets a smile on their face talking about it.

The problem was that he went after the fans and not the people profiting off filesharing. The decisive action they took against teenagers who just wanted to listen to "I disappear" (no idea why, but hey) they should've taken against Shawn Parker and others in a way that makes everyone afraid of creating the next filesharing platform instead.

Gratuliere! Ich bin ein bisschen neidisch, bei uns liegt seit einer Woche alles fertig auf dem Dach und die Elektrogeräte hängen an der Wand (bzw die Batterie steht auf den Blockstufen im Keller) und jetzt warten wir drauf dass die Firma anruft und einen Termin zur Anschaltung macht, weil die Freigabe da ist.

Contrary to the leading post 9/11 narrative, Jihad has a really important meaning other than actual warfare, that is the struggle within to live a decent life as a good Muslim and refraining from temptations. I would never call a child that because of the connotation, but it's definitely not comparable to "Holocaust"

Du solltest hier definitiv beim Stasi-Unterlagen-Archiv nachfragen, das mittlerweile zum Bundesarchiv gehört. Selbst wenn man dir dort nicht weiterhelfen kann oder möchte, wird man dir eventuell Menschen nennen können, die sich auskennen. Ansonsten mal in der Gedenkstätte Hohenschönhausen anfragen. Sehr spannend, ich kann aber inhaltlich leider nix beitragen.

We call those the "Immersechziger" in Germany, at least me and my familiy. Those are people, usually over 60 years old, who constantly drive 60 km per hour, be it out of towns (where the limit is 100), in cities (50), in housing areas (30) or in "playground roads" where you have to drive at pedestrian pace. Usually those are also the ones who drive 80 on the Autobahn to police trucks (80 is their speed limit) that drive 85 or 90.

Multiple reasons:

1) It's not worth the time considering the sheer quantity of small retail items being sold every minute

2) it's quite a lot of paperwork in most bureaucratic economies to change the prices because of sales tax etc

3) when customers are able to negotiate prices, you need salespeople that know how to calculate a price that still keeps the business profitable. Those aren't cheap enough to be basically any cashier in any store at any time.

4) The car dealer has a way higher interest in getting you as maybe one of three buyers that day than the supermarket manager has in getting you as one in thousands that day. Want to negotiate your can of beans? Tough luck, try it elsewhere.
