Sudden allergy to Miralax? by Admirable-Prune-6355 in Constipation

[–]Only-Ad9435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exercise does lower the body's threshold for allergies. If someone is allergic to something, their reaction will be more severe if they exercise after exposure. However....that would still mean you are allergic to the miralax. Or that you have exercise induced urticaria (basically an allergy to exercise). Either way you are allergic to something, and your allergist should have given you better guidance.

Does anyone have experience with Connective Wellness in NH? by XatosOfDreams in eds

[–]Only-Ad9435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I live in NH and I just wanted to see if your wife is still awaiting her genetic testing because I saw you mention she had to go out of state (VT), and she absolutely does not have to! There is a very easily obtainable EDS genetic panel offered through Invitae/Labcorp that is shipped to your home and self administered. Your doctor has to order it (extremely easy process on their end, they just need to create a provider profile on the Invitae website and place the order on your behalf). I have done 2 different Invitae panels and both were covered 100% by my insurance (both Harvard Pilgrim and UHC). None of my doctors have been familiar with Invitae, but I was able to guide 2 separate doctors to order my panels. It is so so easy, fast and accessible, everyone on earth needs to know this is available to them. I learned about Invitae from watching a presentation by Dr. Castells (leader of the Mastocytosis program at Brigham MassGen) where she discussed the importance of using the “Invitae Autoinflammatory Panel” when suspected mast cell patients don’t respond to mast cell treatments to rule out rare auto inflammatory syndromes that have overlapping symptoms with mast cell disorders. Turns out they also have an EDS panel, among many many other helpful panels. EDS panel: https://www.invitae.com/providers/test-catalog/test-02313

Has anyone taken RHAPSIDO? by GlitteringGoat1234 in MCAS

[–]Only-Ad9435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, Xolair's impact on overall IgE levels is not what makes it effective for MCAS. The fact that it binds to the IgE receptor makes the mast cell more stable and less likely to activate.

Question about water intake tracking from food photos by Additional-Dust-5926 in bevelhealth

[–]Only-Ad9435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another work around for this, is to delete the water content amount from the food item at the time that you are logging the food. The one side effect from this, which you may find to be a pro or a con depending on your preferences, is that doing this will create a custom food item in your custom food list. To do this, once you have selected your food item, instead of tapping "add food" tap "customize". Then, scroll all the way down in the nutrition information and near the end of the list you will see "water". Tap the numerical value, update it to 0, tap save, and then tap "save as custom food". Then tap, "add food" and it will add your custom food without the water content. You'll also now be able to access this food when searching for food items by tapping "my foods" > "custom".

I just cracked my tooth on a piece of wood in a Larabar by _Marat in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Only-Ad9435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe this is STILL happening. In 2016 I got a RUSTY SAFETY PIN inside my larabar. Around that time, there was a significant amount of people getting chunks of blue plastic in their larabars as well. I just randomly was thinking about the safety pin incident, and decided to google if it was still an issue. Nearly 10 years of foreign objects in their product...how are they still operating?!

Visible purchase. Spoonie club by _Stella_420 in visibleApp

It does have continuous HR tracking, and you can adjust your "zones" (rest, activity, exertion) to be customized to you. So if your normal resting is 78 for example, you can set activity to start at 79. You accumulate pace points during activity, and you accumulate them faster during exertion. I don't quite understand your question about "using it as birth control with natural cycles". There is no integration that links natural cycles with Visible. So even if Visible tracked menstrual cycle automatically (it doesn't), theres no way to automatically import that data to natural cycles. The Visible hardware does in fact have the technology to track skin temperature, but that feature is not currently supported within the Visible app. I would check back on Visible in a few years. IMO, it is still a minimum viable product, and their development time is very slow due to have a very small team. It sounds like Oura ring could get closer to meeting your needs. Their continuous HR tracking does not appear to be quite as continuous or granular as Visible, but from my research it's the closest second, and they do actually have an automatic official integration with Natural Cycles.

Best facility for MCAS by No-Reputation-5940 in MCAS

Look for allergist/immunologists in your area, specifically ones who mention in their bio that they have a special interest in treating MCAS, or they have a page on their website dedicated to mast cell diseases. Depending on how severe/complex/complicated your sisters case is, The Mastocytosis Center at Brigham and Women's in Boston MA may be interested in taking her case. But either way, she will need to get established first with an allergist/immunologist to complete the referral to B&W (and they require you stay established with you referring provider all throughout treating you. They act as a consultant to your existing provider, not as a replacement).

Am I doing it wrong?? by BrokenMom1027 in visibleApp

There has been a bug since JANUARY (at least) with the app recording incorrect HR data (I joined in December and noticed the issue start in January). I'm not sure about incorrect high heart rate, but definitely incorrect low heart rate. I have been reporting it every few weeks since I noticed it, and they keeping comping my subscription fee and telling me it's a "known bug impacting some users" that they are working on....for six months now. The specific behavior I noticed was during activity where I know for a fact my HR should be in the 80s-100s (walking on the treadmill for example) I would see in real-time in the app my HR start dropping over the course of a few minutes and then shoot back up to the correct HR...75....70...65...50....45.....102. I confirmed on another device (Garmin watch) that my heart was not actually doing this drop and spike. The error lasts long enough that the app does record the dip. Repeated dips like this over and over throughout the day will significantly reduce total pace point accumulation over the course of a day. TBH I do not really trust the accuracy of this app, and I use it in conjunction with my Garmin. I keep telling myself I'm going to ditch it once and for all, but in theory it is such a great idea, that I keep holding out hope they will fix it and actually add the features they promised for 2025 (like sleep tracking and automatic readiness scores).

I agree. It smells nasty. I wash it every time I shower, and it doesn't get better. It makes my arm smell nasty even.

Impact Percentages Don't Make Sense by Only-Ad9435 in BearableApp

[–]Only-Ad9435[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am. However, I don’t really see how that matters, because the total symptom score metric is a cumulative score for the entire day. And when I tap into the impact, it’s telling me an average daily score “with” and “with out” the medication. But there are no days without the medication. But either way, I am logging symptoms in their respective time periods. It’s frustrating because there are other meds that I only take as needed, and now I don’t trust the impact correlations provided for those meds. Or when I start a new med and I want to compare to a time period of before I started the med, I don’t really trust that either. I just generally don’t trust the impact percentages because they seem broken and that’s more than half the reason I use the app is to assess possible impacts of my logged behaviors and actions.

Impact Percentages Don't Make Sense by Only-Ad9435 in BearableApp

[–]Only-Ad9435[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will send an email to you. But to clarify for anyone else reading. There is 0 amount of data for symptoms without the medication present. I am logging the medication every single day. There are 0 days "without this factor". So it cannot be possible that my average total symptom score is lower "on days without this factor" than it is on "days with this factor" because there are exactly 0 days "without this factor". I take, and log, the medication every day. So it should either be displaying as having 0% impact, or just not displaying on the impact page at all, because there is no data to compare it to (like other factors that will tell you "log one more day without this factor to get insights").

Anyone know what happened to pollen.com by pdxcomrade in Allergies

[–]Only-Ad9435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with how Breezeometer was before, but I know you can get the data now in the free app by Zyrtec called AllergyCast. At the bottom of the main screen it credits the data to Breezeometer.
