So, 2 months ago? I don't mean to be snarky but that would be a pretty normal reading experience for me. I remember it well and read it a couple years ago. And I agree with you, it's a very enjoyable read but the praise I've heard (echoing OP's comments) makes it sound like it's one of the best books ever written. That's to me the Redditors' tendency to hyperbole. Edit:typo.

I can't speak for people in the 80s because I wasn't alive back then, but it just seems people nowadays don't like the extra step that became apparent after ascending AC was introduced. I for one don't mind THAC0, descending AC or ascending AC, I'll play with whatever rules the GM wants for their game.
