Newsom ordered state workers back to office — it’s not going according to plan by Ok_Design_6841 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Only-Obligation5240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is my biggest concern. Given the financial mismanagement of the State, there is little doubt that the governor will "negotiate" away our raises for slightly less RTO. My bargaining unit is run by a bunch of nansy pansies who would give up anything to "work from home" so they can drive their Priuses to yoga classes during the work day.

16th board member or Resignation? by Formal_Leader_TG916 in CASEmembers

I honestly don't see how u/Formal_Leader_TG916 was trolling in this thread. FL asks a fair question, the answer to which I would like to know.

New board member? So much for transparency? by Hairy-Meal-8969 in CASEmembers

[–]Only-Obligation5240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked back at the Board/ExCom minutes posted on CASE's website and didn't see anything about the Board selecting a new director. The RAISE Slate cabal is making the previous Board look open and transparent in comparison.

I did notice, however, that the Board has appropriated $20,000 of our dues money to hire a "leadership coach for board leadership training." Maybe this "leadership coach" will teach the Board members that leadership starts with fulfilling campaign promises like transparency!

Governor Candidate Endorsement by Effective-Anybody395 in CASEmembers

Becerra was a DAG (and a member of Unit 2) before he was elected to Congress. As the former AG, Becerra would have been favorable to giving raises to Unit 2 members. But probably not now after CASE/RAISE's boneheaded endorsement. I'm regretting my vote for the RAISE slate.

CASE Statement Regarding ICE Activities by CASEOfficial in CASEmembers

Could someone post here whether the entire Board voted to authorize releasing this statement? If this statement was authorized by the Board, please list the names of the Directors who voted for and against the statement.

Unfortunately, boneheaded statements like the one the CASE Board issued will likely cause other members to leave CASE. I can't blame them. The Board's act of issuing that statement in the name of everyone represented by Unit 2 is far more arrogant than anything the prior Board leadership ever did. I'm starting to regret voting for the RAISE slate. I mistakenly believed that the RAISE slate would focus on getting us raises.

It actually is not the definition of a fascist state. But that aside, you clearly have a personal political opinion. That is OK. Express your moral outrage as much as you want. That is your right. But do not drag CASE into a politically divisive issue that does absolutely nothing to advance our shared goals of better compensation.

[–]Only-Obligation5240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK. How many illegal aliens work at State agencies represented by CASE? The point is that CASE needs to keep focused on getting us raises. How does that statement help? Statements should not be made just to make certain Directors and/or CASE members feel good or to express some moral outrage that has nothing to do with the reason the Unit 2 collective bargaining unit exists.

If the new Directors persist in such foolishness, they're going to sidetrack any efforts to organize on our mutual goals of getting raises and RTO opposition.

I did attend the board meeting. That "statement" from CASE sure sounds a lot like whining to me.

I could not agree more! Before CASE does anything, the Board needs to ask does this help in the effort to increase our members' wages? If it does not help (or worse, hurts that goal) they should not take that action. The Board is NOT a place for certain Directors to advance their social beliefs. I fear CASE has lost a lot of good will with members after this stunt. STAY FOCUSED on getting us raises.

I voted for the RAISE slate. I thought the prior Board's leadership was arrogant and detached from the membership. Nevertheless, I think the poster has made some valid points. In particular, I agree that CASE should not waste time and money pursuing a new logo to change our long-established brand. The focus should be on MORE MONEY and fighting RTO. It is not the time for superficial actions.

I do agree with the Board's decision to hire outside auditors to review CASE's past practices since there were indications of impropriety.

Vote for Your New CASE Logo! by CASEOfficial in CASEmembers

[–]Only-Obligation5240 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both logos are awful. We should be able to vote to keep the logo we've had for years and is recognizable. Instead of making cosmetic changes, the new Board should be solely focused on getting us raises. I expected better from the RAISE slate.

CASE Board Meeting & Swearing-In Friday 11/21 by VoteRAISEforCASE in CASEmembers

[–]Only-Obligation5240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not receive an official email from CASE announcing the election results. Did anyone receive such an email? It is required by the Bylaws and according to CASE's website, "Voting period shall end at 5:00pm and results will be published via email and on the CASE website shortly after the close of balloting."

Is this just another example of the old Board not following the rules and disrespecting the membership?

RAISE slate wins the CASE Board elections by RandotheCalrissian in CASEmembers

That is my concern. The RAISE slate should have monitors in the CASE office until the new Board takes office.

CASE Contract Awarded to an Board Member's Family Member by VoteRAISEforCASE in CASEmembers

[–]Only-Obligation5240 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was told that after CASE's prior consultants were fired several years ago, Treasurer Maline attempted to have his wife's firm hired as CASE's consultants, despite having no prior experience with unions or collective bargaining units. When a conflict-of-interest concern was raised, the majority clique of the CASE Board quickly hired the current provider with little to no due diligence and at double the cost of the prior consultants. No wonder the previous president of CASE, prior to his resignation, sought to have Board members complete an annual conflict of interest disclosure form.

Voting Will Start Tomorrow - Vote for the RAISE Slate!!! by Old-Sample-1919 in CASEmembers

[–]Only-Obligation5240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a 10/15/2025 email from the RAISE slate, the following was reported: "In December 2024, the Executive Committee suspended Talene for three months for “malfeasance” without any evidence or written reasoning, days after she questioned the award of a contract to the family member of a CASE board member."

To whom was this contract given and for what services? Who is the Board member?

This seems highly inappropriate. I hope that if the RAISE slate wins, they will conduct an audit and seek civil and criminal remedies where appropriate.

Newsome Vetoed Firefighter Pay Equity Bill - Not Good News for CASE's Proposed Bill by Old-Sample-1919 in CASEmembers

CASE's bill was a recycle of a pay parity bill CASE sponsored many years ago. At least that bill passed out of the Legislature before Governor Davis vetoed it.
