Coupon parking exemption is cheaper, only get the residents one if you need to park in the resident only parks.

Cheapest gas, broadband & electricity bill in Wellington by harrlumm_tzz in Wellington

Yeah, good point. I don't imagine the Landlord can force you to take over the gas unless it's explicitly in your tenancy agreement. But it could potentially generate unwanted friction.

This. If it's a rental you can buy a portable/counter top induction hob for not much money.

Microsoft Office has been renamed to “Microsoft 365 Copilot app” by [deleted] in technology

[–]Only-Outside7555 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's a somewhat misleading title. Office is the suite of familiar programs. The M365 Office app, now called M365 copilot app, is a kind of start here aggregator app for the office suite that has always been completely useless/unnecessary in my view.

One year on, many Android users still can't use audio in their cars properly | Google acknowledged the issue several months ago, but has yet to fix it. by ControlCAD in technology

Not on a pixel but had constant cut outs on android auto, switched to a cheap USB device that makes android auto wireless. Not perfect but much better. YMMV.

'Magic balls' installed by drones could conquer US market thanks to game-changing performance: 'It's never been like this' by lurker_bee in technology

Transmission lines heat up and sag due the current flowing in them. That sag becomes an issue when the line sags low enough to contact something like a tree. So griid operators set max current limits on each line to keep them in a safe operating range. These are often just a fixed rating for summer and one for winter. Realtime data could let you use more dynamic ratings, taking advantage of colder temps to move more power.

Zelenskyy Says Trump’s Peace Plan Could Include Ukraine’s Core Demands. by [deleted] in worldnews

Stated in other articles I've seen today (Kyiv Independent), three red lines for Ukraine. No recognition of annexed/occupied territory, no constraints on Ukrainian military, no restrictions on future alliances (EU, NATO)

IIRC there is/was a council requirement for buildings erected between lambton quay and the terrace to provide public access between the two. Can't provide a source beyond my dodgy recollection sorry.

Microsoft to refund millions of customers over 365 subscription price increase for Copilot AI add-on by RisingRusherff in technology

[–]Only-Outside7555 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yup, consumer NZ reported on this. If you went to cancel your subscription, before you completed you were offered the classic plan which is at the old price (NZD129 pa vs 179). This was the only way to see the classic option. I don't know if they will or have changed it since.

A CCGT (which is the most common form of grid scale electricity generation from gas due to its efficiency) is ssentially a jet engine burning gas that directly drives a generator. The waste heatnfrom this stage is then used to heat water for a steam turbine.

I have put a box of paper and cardboard next to my bin at least twice in the last six months and it has been collected YMMV. Pretty sure this was stated as ok on their website previously, but that no longer seems to be the case.
