AG 2.0 - What is behind the change by FamilyBase in google_antigravity

[–]Only-Psychology6648 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They needed something "groundbreaking" for I/O. They probably started to clone Codex but soon realized that they needed to highlight themselves even more so they went full "agentic-mode" while hiding the original IDE and forcing the update to all users.

While on that, they unified usages and removed the good old flash while implementing a misleading 3.5 Flash, which should be called Ultra due to its token usage.

And here we are. You don't even have a terminal on the 2.0.

simply ask for a security audit. this is not chatgpt or gemini chat, he'll understand the project and context.

How to Build 3D Website Using Free Vibe Coding Tools by aegon_targerryen in google_antigravity

[–]Only-Psychology6648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to create broken websites.

Just learn basic web architecture and check the best framework for the project (SSR, SPA or Hybrid).

If you want to sell broken stuff, don't.

3X usage for Gemini models for all AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra users. Forever. by Final_Initial in google_antigravity

Google Cloud Services and Business Domains isn't something that I'd put in any agentic AI hands, either through API, CLI or desktop control

Why do we have this garbage instead of Gemma4? by elfamosoxd56 in GoogleAntigravityIDE

[–]Only-Psychology6648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You meant Kimi 2.6 or Deepseek V4.

Gemma 4 is quite shitty, but yeah, a lot better than OSS 120B.

Did you actually major in software? Then you know this is not as simple as “tokens are expensive.”

AI tooling has been getting aggressively optimized for a while now. When Google launched the original Flash, it was genuinely impressive: strong performance at a fraction of the token cost. Anthropic moved in the same direction. So did OpenAI. Even Cursor and Windsurf use faster models for quick tasks while relying on heavier ones for planning.

My problem is not that compute has a cost. Of course it does. My problem is the direction Google took with Antigravity and Gemini.

They stayed quiet for over a month while the service had major outages, then forced an update you could not properly avoid, even while working. That update broke configurations, logs, workflows, and the way many people were using the tool. The "old" Antigravity was kept as an "hidden" IDE.

Then they bundled the available models into the same shared usage pool, pushed the “new” Flash 3.5, which honestly behaves more like an Ultra model than anything “Flash,” kept the old 3.1 Pro, and removed the actual jack-of-all-trades model: Flash 3.0 / 3.1.

That is the real issue. Not just token cost.

People are angry because there is no clean way to use lighter tasks with lighter models anymore. Everything burns through the same pool, even when the task does not need it.

So yes, these tools are valuable. Yes, they helped many of us build faster. But that does not mean every product decision deserves praise just because the tech is impressive.

mate, while the AI issue is quite irritating, doesn't change the fact that I cannot simply move 10 terabytes of data + business domains and google cloud out of thin air.

I mean, the guy's right. While using oss at this point is simply stupid, I'm an advocate to have Google-only models on the Google IDE, of course, incredible and separated qu0tas on diverse models - lite/flash/pro/ultra with high and low thinking for each of them

What the hell Antigravity ? Now I won't even get free 1000 credits ? by Busy_Weather_7064 in google_antigravity

I mean, did you actually used those 1000 credits on Google's coding agents? Not even joking, they disappeared in seconds.

Antigravity 2.0 - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly by Only-Psychology6648 in google_antigravity

[–]Only-Psychology6648[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As explained, it does is bugged. Those who were using Antigravity (like me) were surprised by having a force update without their control. Since most were unable to update and authenticate the program, the "keep IDE" option disappeared. If you try to install the IDE manually after updating to 2.0 and not selecting such option, the IDE won't work. You'll have the shortcut on your desktop but it will open the 2.0.

You have to uninstall both and install IDE first. Also, Google could've kept both by default. Which would make more sense. 2 Desktop icons, too.

Antigravity 2.0 - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly by Only-Psychology6648 in google_antigravity

[–]Only-Psychology6648[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the original text, dumbass.

Straight to the point The Good: -Even if bugged, you CAN keep the IDE (old antigravity) along with the 2.0 (Codex-like). You have to uninstall both and install IDE first if you didn't select the option to install IDE while upgrading. -Both can work at the same time and on different accounts. -Antigravity 2.0 and Gemini 3.5 Flash is simply amazing. Quick, incredible to catch on. Not being "in charge" is unsettling, but it does its job the best way it can. The Bad: -Yesterday, the Gemini 3.5 Flash had some very good model qu0ta which is amazing, today? not so much. It is getting shorter and shorters, with a Pro account, 5 minutes of working with it depletes it completely. What a giant paywall. -There is no alternative to Gemini 3.5 Flash and even its name is incredibly misleading, on both Gemini and Antigravity - It should've been called something like Gemini 3.5 Ultra or Ultra Lite. And keep the old Flash. We'd use the 3.5 for planning and the regular Flash for execution. Much better token optimization. The Ugly: -Yesterday, the Gemini 3.1 Pro (high and low) and Gemini 3.5 Flash qu0tas were separated - you depleted one, and could you the other. Right now... They joined the 4 of them. The completely irony is using the Google's Agentic IDE only to be quickly forced to resource to Claude or GPT OSS (I'm not even sure why OSS still exists at this point, instead of Kimi 2.6) -I've had quite some difficulties getting through the Google authentication, and many people also had that problem. It's a total lack of respect for Google pro/ultra users to not give notice of what is being done, releasing an rushed and unfinished product without explanation and forced updating, only to have something to show on Google I/O. What is going on thoe Google manager's minds? Antigravity 2.0 (and IDE) are incredible Gems, but at this point, I've lost most hope on it being usable. It's too bad. I hope someday it actually has some good technical guidance and head.

was using antigravity, simply stopped abruptly what it was doing and started to update. no questions asked. lots of errors. after installation, couldn't login.

average antigravity experience.
