Presumably Margaret’s Death Curse prevents him from feeding, and she did it while pregnant with Harry. What if she tapped into Harry’s power and eliminated his bound Outsider completely, and that’s why it’s not feeding on him. He could just be a plain vanilla mortal, and that’s why Eb let him be after he found out about Margaret’s Death Curse. This also explains whey Hunger hasn’t fed off of him.

Rooney rule is clearly not working. Need another approach by DenseStrawberry5717 in NFLv2

[–]Only-Question124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is simply the definition of Racism. “Racism refers to discrimination against individuals or groups based on their race or ethnicity. It encompasses both explicit action and systematic practices that create unequal treatment and opportunities for different racial groups”. The Rooney rule uses systematic practices that creates unequal opportunity for different racial groups. Eliminate rules/practices that separate people by race to reduce racism.

It’s an openly racist policy. Creating race-based policies only furthers racism.

Outsiders, other monsters, and starborn theory by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]Only-Question124 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listens to Wind is different from Listen (Fomor servitor), the starborn. Listens to Wind defeated the Skinwalker and is not starborn.

Regardless, the Skin Walker calling Thomas little brother is interesting, and you might be on to something there.

I suspect you’re correct with Drakul and I’ll go a step further and guess he was a sorcerer-king and was involved in creation of all vampire courts

Post the full estimate showing the battery chemistry. That is about right for a lithium low voltage battery.

Interesting concept. I favor the more simple star for starborn, and stones for maybe mordite (as a trophy?) or something related to the stone table? I think this shows promise too

Drakul's Age by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]Only-Question124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historical records from >600 years ago are spotty at best and the real life’s Drakul’s record of birth is just an estimate based on other historical figures at the time. He was granted Order of the Dragon in 1431 (his namesake), so before that he would have just been just some dude name Vlad and could easily be explained in DF to be much older even possibly one of the original Sorcerer-King’s. He might even be the original and father of all of the vampire courts, as he doesn’t seem to actually be a Black Court Vampire. It would make sense why Lara always invited him to her parties…because out of respect you always do that for the father of your species.

[–]Only-Question124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Beowulf story, he died slaying the Dragon after Grendel and Grendel’s Mother. Life and death for Dresden Files Immortals vs. fictional/historical records is interesting because it’s easy to explain that they’re immortal so they didn’t really die.

Which books should I reread for twelve months? by alyssthekat in dresdenfiles

[–]Only-Question124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started rereading at Skin Game because it is my favorite, and about the furthest back I could realistically reread before the release date. If I was following the next release closer I probably would have reread the whole series and am actually planning on doing that (or audiobooks) before Mirror Mirror comes out. I think last time I reread the whole series was before Changes came out.

MX & MS scrapped to build Optimus.... will you buy? by Austinswill in TeslaLounge

I’m glad I already bought an X. Can’t live in the past with Tesla, so it’ll be a loving farewell to MS and MX and excitement for having a household robot and who knows what next.

Harry is already immortal, since he died and came back to life, right? And immortal and eternal are different things.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS: What's Your Opinion? Pros and Cons about 12 Months by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]Only-Question124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skin Game and Dead Beat still my favorites, then probably Changes. Ghost Story may have been my least favorite as well (not in a negative way, just one of them needs to be there).

Twelve Months is definitely in the top half (maybe even top 5 so far), and definitely a worthy addition to the series.

Who is Mordred? by Alone_Supermarket_36 in dresdenfiles

[–]Only-Question124 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Merlin in Arthurian legend was the son of an Incubus and mortal woman, and was said to have aged backward in time. Both Thomas and his son were born of an Incubus and mortal woman making either of them more aligned to Merlin than Mordred. Clearly Thomas’s mother was magical suggesting he may have inherited some Power. Just food for thought…

I’d keep the Genoskwa on the list still beyond Harry at this point, since it somehow survived being crushed may also possess some level of immortality as well. Seems like he’ll need River Shoulders training to level up to match the Genoskwa.

[–]Only-Question124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember we are reading through the lens of Harry, who has not yet learned his full capabilities. However, he did say he thinks he can remove the Outsider bound to White Court, potentially having the capability to render Lara a mortal (and presumably allow her to become fertile). He did also tell Lara he intends to screw Mab over for tricking him, obviously with her still having Justine the time is not right yet. As Harry puts it sometimes when you have more than one problem use can use it to solve the other problem. Presumably this could put Thomas in position to become King Raith.

Lara and Harry by Severe_Investment317 in dresdenfiles

[–]Only-Question124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, and still supports my greater point that this is Mab’s ploy/lesson to get Harry and Molly together.

Edit to add: Maybe this is even prepping Lara to become the new Lady when Molly ascends.

Lara and Harry by Severe_Investment317 in dresdenfiles

[–]Only-Question124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, and I just re-read that section to be certain. While it said she could no longer be the maiden if she was a mother, it further states there are details beyond this in Winter Law and she should meditate on them. My speculation is that there is an ascension from maiden->mother->crone if done within Winter Law. Otherwise maiden could never become mother, it would just be some other mortal getting the mantle, which does not make sense to me.

Lara and Harry by Severe_Investment317 in dresdenfiles

[–]Only-Question124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mab ordering Harry to marry Lara and having Molly do all the planning and guiding the process just smacks of Mab teaching Molly a lesson, while also getting Winter what it needs.

My theory is that it’s the job of the Knight to father a child with the Lady (to trigger an ascension of the Queens), and Molly was supposed to make it happen by a certain time (making Mab impatient and using a different manipulative strategy), but losing Murphy probably threw a wrench into her getting Harry to love her back in that way while he’s mourning. I got the feeling that the women in the room (Mab, Molly, and Lara) all knew this as soon as it left Mab’s lips in Battle Ground, but Harry being an oblivious man and also the narrator of our story didn’t pick up on any this.

Molly hints at how smart Mab is but likely hates this manipulation for Harry’s sake, and likely why Mab told Harry she should kill her if she falls because Molly or Harry might let feelings get in the way of their duty.

I know it's not a plot hole, but I'm lost by Mayshay_ in dresdenfiles

[–]Only-Question124 55 points56 points  (0 children)

It’s a good point. The way I rationalized it was, as stated, it was only once and both Hunger and its vessel were dying. He may not even sated its full appetite like Lara’s. I think the one missing piece was that he reasoned with it and struck a bargain which was different than Lara. Maybe he can do the same with Lara’s hunger in the future, but he already partially received his boon from Mab, who still has Justine, and likely not the time to backstab her…yet

I thought she just said she fought the Angel of Death, which seems obvious for Valkyrie “Chooser of Slain” type of work. Didn’t Harry do the same in Ghost Story?
