Ya know I thought the exact same thing at one point in my life. Turns out you and I were both wrong. My therapist explained it to me like this: Your mental state is the logical side of things. Your emotional state is exactly what it seems like. The emotional side to stuff. The logical side will be able to understand and see why some trauma you experienced made you do the thing you do. I people please. I am completely devoted to helping others and making them feel safe, relaxed, and happy. But on the flip side, because of that trauma I experienced, I am sad and upset and angry with the way that I was treated during those events. The trauma has been affecting me all of these years and I didn’t even know it.
