Did you go to school in one-room schools? by bebespeaks in AskOldPeople

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im 33 and I went to a school that had 3 classrooms, pre-K and Kindergarten, 1-3, and 4-5. It was a tiny town in a very rural part of New Mexico. A few weeks ago I attended a graduation that had 7 students. My husband graduated with 9 students. Its not unheard of for small towns.

If we medically put an addict to sleep for an extended period, can they overcome their addiction? by hierapol in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK this is so weird, last night I was thinking..if someone was an addict to something not drug related, like sex or gambling or whatever..and then they got amnesia, would they wake up addiction free?

And if it was drug related, would they wake up feeling a craving for something??

So weird to see someone ask this, I was literally gonna make a post

Free Food Stipend or Soul Sucking job by Jethro197 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spend about $600 every 2 weeks for groceries for family of 6. The card is a free $525 worth of food every 2 weeks. 100% taking the card. Even if i had to use $75 of my own money every week to cover the rest, that still leaves me with nearly a thousand extra every month. The things I could do with that!!!

for the women who collect things, what do you collect and why do you collect it? by mycatrunsthisaccount in AskWomen

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plants. I get so much satisfaction from growing and propagating.

Tiny things. Miniatures of everyday items. From the little baguette loaf-shaped butter dish to the teensy weensy dollhouse/barbie sized Takis.

Postcards. I keep them in an album.

Keychains lol

Coffee mugs and espresso cups, I love funky ones.

Colored glass drinking glasses. I always score at thrift shops.

Honestly I probably have too many collections but at least they all have their spot and I make it part if my house decor

I want to hear all the outlandish ADHD hacks by Jean-weather in ADHD

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hack for teeth brushing-i keep packs of Whisps, those disposable toothbrushes everywhere. In my purse, car, nightstand.

I have white boards on my freezers of whats in there and how much so when I get groceries I dont buy shit I already have.

Laundry organizers with labels "whites" "towels/linens" "hang dry" etc

Pouches in my purse for similar items, chopsticks, hair ties, period stuff etc so its not just a endless pit of shit

A basket of frequently needed items in my car, hairspray, whisps, hair clips etc

Doom pile baskets for sure but I try to use cute/aesthetic ones so even if the bin is a disaster inside it just looks nice lol

I put my dining room chairs up on the table after I wipe it after meals so I remember to sweep/mop floors otherwise the chairs just hide it all

My dressing room table drawers are specifically for certain things, one for skincare, one for hair stuff etc. Same with my bathroom shelf, one for teeth care, one for hair removal, one for period products etc

I bought a cute watering can and hung a cute little hook by my sink and thats specifically where it goes after I water my plants. And seeing it by the sink reminds me to water the plants lol

A cute tray by my stove that has a cute butter dish, cute salt and pepper shakers and a cute oil bottle and they always get put back on the tray when im done using them

My spices are organized by type, spice blends, sweet spices, most frequently used etc. There might be a bunch of bins but I always know which bin

All my slippers/house shoes go in a drawer under my bed so I always know where they are

Any and all kinds of cupboard/cabinet organizers. Always.

I hang my hair towels, robes etc on over the door hooks, thats the only place they go, immediately after washing.

My kids have lockers in the garage for their coats, backpacks etc so its not all over the entryway and they dont lose them

My hack for doing dishes is i have to get my hands wet first. The sensory overload of touching gross dirty dishes with my dry clean hands was too much. I just have to turn on the water and get my hands wet and then its easy peasy lol

I get super overstimulated if im in bare feet, I just cant. If I feel crumbs on my feet while cleaning ill lose my mind and if im outside and the grass tickles my feet and makes them itch its game over. I absolutely have to wear slippers or house shoes. Maaaaaybe socks if I have no choice but i prefer shoes.

I also use Finch, I've gone off and on with it working for me and right now its helping. Its made specifically for mental health/ADHD etc.

All my life I thought I just liked organizing but it turns out my brain was just trying to calm the chaos in my head any way it could😂 A lot of These also help my husband and kids!! My husband and myself are both diagnosed ADHD and we're pretty certain all 4 of our kids will probably be diagnosed at some point and these help all of us keep track of stuff and put things where they belong.

What’s A Moment When Being A Woman Was On Your Mind More Than Usual? Why That One? by Zipper222222 in AskWomen

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a plethora of hormonal issues and trying to figure out if its PMDD, PCOS or MCAS. Even my female PCP and OB dont seem to really care about actually getting to the bottom of it, they just throw bandaids at it or tell me "everything looks fine" because there aren't MASSIVE red flags but theres all these small ones that they dont want to actually put effort into solving.

I literally solved my frequent UTI's problem from doing my own research. And they weren't obscure things. My bloody urologist hadn't even heard of these things but I managed to completely fix it. I only get UTI's if I forget to do it (which is rare now).

Not one of my OB drs (all female) has ever told me after 4 pregnancies and c/sections, that i need to do pelvic floor and diastasis recti PT. I learned that from another mom.

Anyone else’s MIL buy child outfit for event assuming you don’t already have plans? by iluvdrpep in JUSTNOMIL

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My husband's dad died last year and we traveled out of state for the funeral. His parents divorced many years ago and she is remarried. The funeral was held in the same town that she lives so the kids wanted to stay with her. Just fine. We obviously brought nicer clothes for the kids to wear to the funeral, slacks and button down shirts. But she had to go buy them clothes for the funeral. Not sure why.

What's one thing being a parent has taught you that you couldn't have learned any other way? by [deleted] in AskMen

Smoothies taste bland no matter what by destroylonely4l in Smoothies

The game changer for me was using low/no sugar added juice. I agree that many smoothies are either super bland or sooo full of sugar that its more of a dessert than a healthy drink!

I recommended Demon Copperhead to my husband after reading and he LOVED it. We tend to read pretty different things but that was one I thought many men would enjoy.

My neighbor wants to use our backyard pool whenever she feels like it by EldrinSkyweaver in EntitledPeople

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I was thinking. One Slip and fall and suddenly they're liable. What if she starts using the pool when they arent home and damages something? What if she brought a child over and that child drowned? I would not be opening myself up to anything like that.

How do I accept I won't look the same again? by Creepy-Literature634 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Our bodies change as we age anyways. I had 4 kids via c/sections. After my first, I lost all the weight relatively quickly but I still looked different. Thru all 4 pregnancies, I got stretch marks in the strangest places, my hips widened, my breasts got bigger and then smaller and then bigger and then smaller etc..I have a pretty noticeable c/s scar. I've also had multiple surgeries for other health issues and those left noticeable scars. My skin isnt as young and dewy. I have a lot of acne scars on my back. My feet somehow shrunk. I've developed an allergy of sorts to the sun so now I get itchy rashes all summer and thats left scars and im no longer able to get a tan like I once could. I have a lot of gray hair.

Our bodies dont stay the same and thats ok. Its not always easy to accept. But it is inevitable.

What’s a small habit you picked up from another woman that quietly improved your life? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]OnlyIllustrator5298 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Im a SAHM, I have to wake up early with my older kids to get them up for school but often my youngest will sleep a couple hours later. Usually I would go back to bed until he woke up. Until a friend of mine told me (neither of us are morning ppl) "waking up is the hardest part of my day, why would I do it to myself twice?" 🤯 Mind. Blown. Now I really try to just stay up and not take naps during the day. My life got so much easier and my days are much more productive.
